Memory

Desktop and laptop memory from CSSi South Africa covers DDR5, DDR4 and DDR3 modules for every build — from gaming rigs and content creation workstations to office PC upgrades and laptop SO-DIMM replacements. As an authorised distributor for Kingston, Samsung, ADATA, Team Group, G.Skill and Crucial-aligned brands, CSSi supplies genuine-channel RAM with full manufacturer warranty, ZAR pricing and a best-price guarantee.

Buyer’s guide

Match memory to the platform. Modern Intel Core (LGA 1700/1851) and AMD Ryzen (AM5) systems use DDR5 UDIMM at 4800–8000+ MT/s; previous-generation desktops use DDR4-2400/2666/3200; legacy systems use DDR3. Laptops use SO-DIMM modules in the same generations. For best performance, buy matched kits rather than mixing single sticks — dual-channel and quad-channel topology requires balanced population. For Ryzen AM5 and high-end Intel boards, factory-tested XMP/EXPO kits deliver advertised speeds reliably.

Use cases

Gaming and content creation builds, workstation memory upgrades, office PC refreshes, laptop RAM replacements and SMB fleet refreshes. For ECC server memory, see Server Memory instead — ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM is not interchangeable with desktop UDIMM. Pair with Desktop CPUs and Desktop GPUs for complete component selection.

Why buy memory from CSSi

Authorised-channel stock, ZAR invoicing, channel rates for resellers and DRSP partners, lifetime warranty on most modules, and pre-sales advice on platform compatibility. With 26 years in South African distribution, CSSi keeps fast-moving memory SKUs in stock at Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much RAM do I need?

16 GB for general office and light gaming; 32 GB for serious gaming and content creation; 64 GB+ for video editing, 3D rendering, virtualisation and large data analysis. Always populate dual-channel kits (2 or 4 matched sticks).

What is XMP / EXPO and should I enable it?

XMP (Intel) and EXPO (AMD) are factory-tested overclocking profiles that run the RAM at its rated speed beyond the JEDEC base. Enabling XMP/EXPO in BIOS is recommended for any performance-rated kit — without it, the RAM runs at slower stock speeds.

Can I mix RAM brands or speeds?

Possible but not recommended. Mixed kits often default to the slowest stick’s speed and timings, and stability is not guaranteed. Buy matched kits for predictable performance.

What warranty applies?

Most desktop memory ships with lifetime manufacturer warranty. CSSi handles RMA processing in South Africa for warranty replacements.
