Server GPUs from CSSi South Africa accelerate AI training and inference, virtual desktop infrastructure, scientific computing and broadcast workflows in data centre environments. As an authorised distributor for NVIDIA professional and datacentre product lines, CSSi supplies passively cooled, server-validated GPUs — the H-series, L-series and A-series cards designed for rack chassis — with ZAR pricing, technical pre-sales and Africa-wide delivery to JSE-listed enterprises, research institutions and government clients.
Buyer’s guide
Server GPUs differ from desktop GPUs in three critical respects: passive cooling that relies on server chassis airflow, full-height full-length form factor designed for PCIe x16 Gen4/Gen5 slots, and enterprise driver and support packs with multi-year lifecycles. Specify by workload — large language model training and HPC need top-bin H-series accelerators with NVLink; mid-range inference, rendering and VDI deployments suit L-series cards; entry-level virtualisation and lighter inference fit A-series. Confirm server chassis support (GPU-capable SKUs only), PCIe generation and power budget (300–700+ W per card).
Use cases and industries
AI training and inference for South African fintechs, telcos and research clusters; virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) with NVIDIA vGPU; broadcast and post-production rendering; scientific computing in mining geophysics and academic HPC; medical imaging acceleration; and digital twin and simulation workloads. Pair with Servers, Server CPUs and Server Memory ranges for complete AI/HPC node builds. Backup the storage tier with our Enterprise SSDs.
Why buy server GPUs from CSSi
Authorised-channel NVIDIA datacentre stock, ZAR invoicing, channel pricing for resellers and DRSP partners, and pre-sales expertise on chassis compatibility, power planning and licensing (vGPU, AI Enterprise). With 26 years of South African enterprise distribution and the option of formal services partner pairing, CSSi supports the full lifecycle from quote to deployment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install a server GPU in a desktop PC?
Technically possible but rarely advisable. Server GPUs are passively cooled and rely on high-pressure server chassis airflow. In a desktop, they will throttle or overheat without significant case modification. For workstation use, choose actively cooled professional GPUs instead.
What is NVIDIA vGPU and do I need it?
vGPU is software that virtualises a datacentre GPU across multiple virtual machines for VDI and cloud workloads. It requires a subscription licence per concurrent user. Pure compute workloads (AI training, HPC) do not need vGPU; VDI deployments typically do.
Does CSSi sell GPUs separately or only with servers?
Both. CSSi quotes standalone GPUs for in-place upgrades to GPU-capable chassis, or fully integrated GPU server builds with chassis, CPU, memory, storage and rails configured before despatch.
What warranty applies?
NVIDIA datacentre GPUs carry full manufacturer warranty, typically 3 years. CSSi handles RMA processing in South Africa and co-ordinates support with manufacturer-authorised partners.
