GL.iNet GL-MT6000 Network Device

The GL.iNet GL-MT6000 is a high-performance Wi-Fi 6 AX6000 network device designed for homes and offices where fast support for multiple devices, connection stability, and extensive configuration options are essential. It offers Wispeeds of up to 1,148 Mb/s on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 4,804 Mb/s on the 5 GHz band, and features a 2.0 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT7986 processor, 1 GB of DDR4 memory, and 8 GB of eMMC storage. Two 2.5G Ethernet ports, four 1G LAN ports, USB 3.0, Multi-WAN, Load Balancing, Failover, and WireGuard at up to 900 Mb/s make this model ideal for users who heavily rely on multimedia and gaming, remote workers, families, and businesses requiring a flexible network infrastructure.

Wi-Fi 6 AX6000 – Speed, Range, and Stability

The GL-MT6000 utilizes Wi-Fi 6 in a 4x4 configuration for both bands and supports up to 8 spatial streams, allowing it to efficiently handle multiple devices simultaneously, including during HD and Ultra HD streaming. Maximum speeds reach 1,148 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 4,804 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, enabling smooth streaming, fast downloads, and low-latency online gaming. Four external, dual-band 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz antennas and 8 high-power FEM modules extend coverage and help ensure a strong signal in medium-sized homes, while compatibility with IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax also allows you to use older wireless devices.

High-Performance Components for a Robust Network

Data processing is handled by a quad-core MediaTek MT7986 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, providing the performance needed for heavy workloads and more complex network configurations. It is accompanied by 1 GB of DDR4 memory and 8 GB of eMMC storage. The ample storage space allows, among other things, for the installation of a greater number of plugins, which enables you to tailor the GL-MT6000’s capabilities more extensively to the needs of a specific home or office.

2.5G Ethernet and Multi-WAN – a flexible wired network

The GL-MT6000 offers six Ethernet ports—two 2.5G 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps ports and four 1G 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN ports. One 2.5G port functions as a WAN port, while the other can operate as either a WAN or LAN port, providing greater flexibility when setting up an infrastructure that includes computers and NAS devices, among other components. Support for Multi-WAN, Failover, and Load Balancing allows you to use multiple WAN connections, secure Internet access in case of problems with one of the links, and balance the load—this is particularly useful where multiple users and devices are using the network simultaneously.

WireGuard and OpenVPN—Network-Wide Protection

Extensive VPN support allows you to use WireGuard at speeds of up to 900 Mb/s and OpenVPN, and the device supports over 30 VPN services. The GL-MT6000 can automatically encrypt traffic from devices connected to the network, including guest devices and devices that do not natively support VPN encryption, so protection does not need to be configured separately on each of them. The model can function as both an OpenVPN or WireGuard client and server; in server mode, it redirects traffic from devices located remotely through a VPN tunnel before they access the public Internet. Rule-based routing is also available, providing greater control over traffic routing.

OpenWrt – Customize How Your Network Works

The pre-installed OpenWrt v21.02 provides extensive configuration options for the GL-MT6000. The device can function as a router, access point, extender, or WDS; it supports DHCP, static IP addresses, and PPPoE; and in repeater mode, it can scan for available SSIDs, connect to them, and support hidden SSIDs. You can also enable or disable the wireless access point, change or hide the SSID, set encryption and a password, select the channel, bandwidth, and transmission power, and create a separate SSID for guests.

Multi-layered security and AdGuard Home

The GL-MT6000 supports WPA3, which provides, among other things, protection against brute-force password attacks, eavesdropping on user communications, and per-device encryption on public Wi-Fi networks. DNS over HTTPS and DNS over TLS are also available to encrypt DNS traffic, and firewall features include port forwarding, port opening, and DMZ. These security features are complemented by AdGuard Home, which uses a DNS server to block unwanted tracking and selected digital ads and allows you to customize filtering via a web interface.

Parental Controls and DFS

Families can use the GL-MT6000’s Bark parental controls, which allow for managing screen time, filtering websites and content categories, and using safe search. The device is also DFS-certified for the U.S., Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. Dynamic Frequency Selection allows 5 GHz networks to utilize additional frequencies normally reserved for radar, satellite, and military applications, among others, and access to these additional channels can help reduce network congestion in environments with a large number of devices.

USB 3.0 and Extensive Management Capabilities

In addition to six Ethernet ports, the GL-MT6000 is equipped with a USB 3.0 Type-A 5 V / 2 A port, a Reset button, a two-color LED indicator showing power and internet connection status, and a DC5521 12 V / 4 A power jack. Administrative features include the ability to change the LAN IP address range, time zone, and MAC address, as well as remote management via Cloud/DDNS. Combined with extensive Wi-Fi settings, a firewall, VPN, and rule-based routing, this provides a wide range of control for both advanced home users and office network administrators.

Compact design and power consumption below 20 W

Despite its extensive capabilities, the GL-MT6000 maintains a relatively compact design—it measures 233 × 137 × 53 mm and weighs 761 g. Power consumption is less than 20 W, and the device is designed to operate at temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C and at humidity levels of 5–95% non-condensing. The permissible storage temperature ranges from -20°C to 70°C, also at a humidity of 5–95% without condensation.
