Laptop stands raise a notebook to a more comfortable viewing height. Our range includes fixed and height-adjustable laptop stands, laptop and tablet stands, laptop arms and an arm shelf. They suit anyone who works at a desk for long periods. Brands include NEOMOUNTS, FELLOWES, Rain Design and AXAGON.
How to choose a laptop stand
Stand or arm. A stand sits on the desk and is the simplest option. A laptop arm clamps to the desk edge and swings the notebook into position, which frees desk space but needs a desk that can take a clamp.
Height adjustment. A fixed stand gives you one angle, while an adjustable one lets you bring the top of the screen to eye level. Many stands in our range have height adjustment, and it matters most if several people share the desk or you switch between sitting and standing.
Screen size compatibility. Check both ends of the range. Minimum sizes in our range start at 10 or 11 inches, and maximum sizes run from 14 and 15 inches up to 17 and 17.3 inches. Some products from the NEOMOUNTS range accept screens up to 22 inches, which suits a laptop or a small monitor.
Weight capacity. Most stands with this information listed carry 5 kg, and a few are rated for 10 kg. Weigh the laptop with its charger if you carry it as one unit, and leave some margin for a heavy gaming laptop or mobile workstation.
Material and build. Aluminium is the most common material in our range, with steel and plastic also available. Aluminium is light and helps draw heat away from the laptop, while steel is stiffer under heavy loads. Silicone or rubber contact points protect the laptop and stop it sliding.

Laptop stand FAQ
What height should a laptop stand be?
The top of the screen should be level with your eyes or slightly below, at roughly arm's length. Once the laptop is raised, its own keyboard and trackpad become awkward to use. Pair the stand with a separate keyboard and mouse.
Does a laptop stand help with overheating?
It can help, because lifting the laptop lets air reach the underside and the vents. Open designs and aluminium stands that draw heat away from the chassis work best. A stand is not a replacement for proper cooling if the laptop is constantly under heavy load.
Will a laptop stand fit a 17-inch laptop?
Yes, if the stand lists 17 inches or more as its maximum screen size. Our range includes stands rated up to 17 and 17.3 inches, as well as some that go up to 22 inches. Also check the weight capacity, as larger laptops are heavier.
Should I choose a laptop stand or a laptop arm?
Choose a stand for simplicity and for moving between desks, and an arm if you want to free up desk space and reposition the laptop often. An arm needs a desk edge or hole that suits its clamp. A stand needs nothing but a flat surface.
