LEGO and building sets for children, teenagers and adult collectors, from small brick sets to large display models. Our range of more than 500 sets is almost entirely LEGO, with a few products from KOALA. Sets differ by theme, piece count and recommended age, so these are the first things to check.
How to choose a LEGO or building set
Age rating. Every LEGO box shows a recommended minimum age, and it is worth following. Sets for younger children use larger or fewer pieces, while sets marked 18+ are aimed at adults and have more intricate, fiddly steps.
Play or display. Decide whether the model will be played with or put on a shelf. Vehicles, buildings with opening sections and sets with figures suit play, whereas architectural models, botanical sets and detailed replicas are built to be displayed and are usually more delicate to handle.
Piece count and build time. A small set of under 200 pieces can often be finished in an hour or less. Sets with several thousand pieces take many hours spread over several sessions, so they suit people who enjoy a long project. Also check the finished dimensions against the space you have.
Theme and building style. LEGO sets are organised into themes, such as city scenes, licensed film and game characters, and Technic. Technic models are built from beams, pins and gears and often include moving mechanisms, while standard brick sets focus on shape and detail. Choose the theme the builder already likes, as that matters more than any other feature.
Adding to an existing collection. LEGO bricks from different sets connect with each other, so a new set can be combined with bricks already at home. If the aim is a themed display, such as a street of buildings, check that the sets share the same scale and style.

Frequently asked questions
What age are LEGO sets suitable for?
LEGO sets are made for a very wide age span, and each box states a recommended minimum age. Younger children do best with sets that have fewer, larger pieces and short instructions. Many sets are designed for adults, and these are marked 18+.
How do I choose a LEGO set as a gift?
Start with the recipient's age and favourite theme, then pick a piece count that matches their patience and experience. A mid-sized set in a theme they already enjoy is usually safer than a very large one. For adult collectors, display models are a common choice.
What is the difference between LEGO Technic and regular LEGO sets?
LEGO Technic sets are built mainly from beams, pins, axles and gears, and many have working features such as steering or moving parts. Regular brick sets rely on standard bricks and plates and concentrate more on appearance. Technic builds tend to be more mechanical and can be more demanding for younger builders.
How long does it take to build a large LEGO set?
Build time depends on the piece count and the builder's experience. A set with a few hundred pieces may take one or two hours, while a model with several thousand pieces can take many hours over several days. The piece count on the box is the best guide to how long a set will take.
