Styluses for tablets, smartphones and laptops, from simple touchscreen pens to active pens made for handwriting and sketching. Our range has over 15 models, mostly from Tech-Protect and FIXED, plus pens from ASUS, Acer and Targus. They suit students, office workers and anyone who would rather write on screen than type.
How to choose a stylus
Device compatibility. Check this first, because many active styluses only work with specific devices. In our range you will find pens listed for Apple devices and for ASUS devices, and the intended device type is either a tablet or a desktop/laptop. Look at the exact model of your tablet or laptop before ordering.
Active or passive. A passive stylus has a rubber or mesh tip and works on almost any capacitive touchscreen, which is enough for tapping, scrolling and basic notes. An active stylus talks to the screen electronically, so it can offer pressure sensitivity, palm rejection and a finer line. Choose active if you draw, annotate documents or write for long stretches.
Tip and writing feel. A fine, hard tip gives more precise lines but can feel scratchy on glass, while a softer tip is quieter and gentler on the screen. Check whether replacement tips are available, since tips wear down with regular use.
Power and charging. Active pens usually run on a built-in rechargeable battery or a replaceable cell, and some attach magnetically to the device to charge. Passive styluses need no power at all, which makes them easier to keep in a bag or pencil case.
Size and grip. A pen that is too thin tires the hand during long sessions. If you plan to take notes for hours, pick one with a barrel close to the size of a normal pen and a flat edge so it does not roll off the desk.
Stylus brands we carry
- Tech-Protect: a brand best known for phone and tablet cases and screen protectors, and the largest supplier of styluses in our range, so it is a sensible starting point for a pen that matches a protected device.
- FIXED: a Czech maker of mobile accessories such as cables, chargers and cases, offering a small group of styluses for phones and tablets.
- ASUS: makes its own pens for ASUS laptops and tablets, designed to work with the touchscreen and handwriting features of those devices.
- Acer: supplies pens for its own touchscreen laptops and convertibles, so they are best matched with Acer devices.
- Targus: long associated with laptop bags and computer accessories, and a natural choice if you already use its cases or carry gear.
Stylus FAQ
Will any stylus work on my tablet?
Not always. A passive stylus works on most capacitive touchscreens, but an active pen usually needs a compatible device. Check the brand and device compatibility on the product page, for example whether it is made for Apple or ASUS devices.
What is the difference between an active and a passive stylus?
An active stylus communicates electronically with the screen and can detect pressure and reject your palm. A passive stylus simply mimics a fingertip. Passive pens are simpler and work on more devices, while active pens suit drawing and handwriting better.
Do I need a stylus for note taking?
You do not need one, but it makes handwritten notes and annotations more accurate than a finger. Students and professionals who mark up documents or sketch diagrams on a tablet tend to benefit most. If you only tap and scroll, a simple passive pen is sufficient.
Can I use a stylus on a smartphone?
Yes, a passive stylus works on most smartphone screens, and it is handy for small buttons, precise taps and typing with gloves on. Active pens only work on phones that specifically support them. Check the compatibility details before buying.
