Laptop adapters rated 90 to 135 W are mains chargers for mid-range and larger laptops, including business notebooks, workstations and some gaming models. Our range of over 1,100 products covers original and replacement adapters from DELL, LENOVO, HP and ASUS, as well as 2-POWER and COREPARTS. Most are AC-to-DC chargers with an output of 19 to 20 V.
How to choose a laptop adapter
Wattage. Check the output rating printed on your current charger or in the laptop specifications. Our range includes 90 W, 120 W, 130 W and 135 W adapters, with 90 W being the most common. A charger below the original rating may charge slowly or fail to keep up under heavy load.
Output voltage. The voltage must match the laptop, and this is where adapters differ most. Our range includes 19.5 V, 19 V and 20 V models, plus a few at 18.5 V. A 19.5 V charger is not interchangeable with a 20 V one simply because the wattage is the same, so match the voltage to the label on your original.
Connector. The plug must fit physically and, for some brands, communicate with the laptop. Barrel connectors come in several diameters, and some Dell and HP models use a centre pin that tells the laptop which charger is attached. Lenovo uses a rectangular slim-tip plug on many models. Search by your laptop model number rather than by wattage alone.
Original or compatible. Original chargers from the laptop maker are the safest match for connector and electronics. Compatible adapters from other brands are often cheaper and are made for specific laptop families, so confirm your exact model is listed before ordering.
Input voltage and travel. Most adapters here accept 100 to 240 V, or a similar range such as 110 to 240 V, so they work on South African mains without a converter. Only the mains lead or plug type may need to change when travelling abroad.

Laptop adapter FAQ
What wattage laptop charger do I need?
You need a charger with the same wattage as the original, or higher. The rating is printed on the label of your current adapter, usually as output in watts, or as volts and amps. If only volts and amps are shown, multiply them to get watts: 19.5 V at 4.62 A is about 90 W.
Can I use a higher wattage adapter on my laptop?
Yes, in most cases, provided the voltage and connector match. The laptop only draws the power it needs, so a 135 W adapter can normally replace a 90 W one of the same voltage. Using a lower wattage than specified is where problems start, such as slow charging or battery drain under load.
How do I find the right charger for my laptop model?
Start with the exact model number on the underside of the laptop or in its settings, then match the output voltage, wattage and connector type. The old charger label gives the voltage and wattage directly. Look at the plug too, as similar-looking connectors can differ in diameter or pin layout.
Are compatible laptop adapters as good as original ones?
A compatible adapter can work well if it matches the voltage, wattage and connector of the original and meets safety standards. Original chargers remain the closest match, particularly for laptops that check the charger through a data pin. Compatible models suit buyers who want a spare for the office or travel bag.
