Internal PC cables

Internal PC cables

Internal PC cables cover the connections inside a computer case: SATA data cables, SAS and NVMe cables, GPU power cables, fan and RGB cables, and power leads for motherboards and drives. They suit builders replacing a missing lead, adding storage or tidying a build. Leading brands in our range include Delock, Lenovo, InLine, Kolink and CableMod.

How to choose internal PC cables

Interface and connector. Match the connector at both ends to the ports you actually have. SATA data cables are the largest group in our range, while SAS and NVMe cables use different connectors, so check the port on the motherboard or controller and the one on the drive before ordering.

Power compatibility. Cables for modular power supplies are generally not interchangeable between manufacturers, and sometimes not between series from the same maker. Choose cables made for your exact PSU model. For graphics cards, count the 8-pin PCIe connectors the card needs and check whether it uses a 12VHPWR connector instead.

Length and routing. Measure the path from the port to the drive or card, going around the case rather than in a straight line. Right-angle and latching connectors help in cramped cases, and flat cables are easier to hide behind the motherboard tray.

Sleeving and looks. In a case with a glass side panel, sleeved cables and cable combs make the build look tidier. Inside a closed case, plain cables work just as well and usually cost less.

Fan and RGB headers. Check the header type before buying. Fan cables come in 3-pin and 4-pin PWM versions, and addressable RGB lighting (usually 5V, 3-pin) is not the same as 12V RGB (4-pin).

Internal PC cable brands we carry

  • Delock: a German supplier known for a very large catalogue of cables and adapters, including many SATA and internal USB variants.
  • InLine: a German brand covering everyday computer cables and adapters, often chosen for standard replacements.
  • CableMod: known for custom sleeved power cables and PSU extension kits aimed at visually tidy builds.
  • Corsair: a power supply maker, so its cables are usually bought as replacements or extras for Corsair modular PSUs.
  • StarTech.com: a connectivity specialist offering internal adapters, drive cables and expansion accessories.
  • SilverStone and Kolink: both make PC cases and power supplies, so their cables often serve as matching spares for their own hardware.
  • Lenovo: a PC and server manufacturer, whose cables are normally meant for repairing or expanding its own systems.

Also in our range: Akasa, Exertis Connect, EFB-Elektronik and Gembird.

Subcategories help narrow the search: SATA data cables, SAS and NVMe cables, GPU power cables, fan and RGB cables, cable sets and kits, SATA and Molex power cables, USB and charging cables, motherboard power cables, internal USB cables and adapters, and expansion cards and adapters.

Internal PC cables FAQ

Which cable connects a SATA SSD or hard drive to the motherboard?

A SATA data cable connects the drive to a SATA port on the motherboard. The drive also needs a separate SATA power cable from the power supply. Both connectors are keyed, so they only fit one way.

Can I use modular PSU cables from another brand?

Generally no. The PSU-side connector may look the same, but the pin layout can differ between manufacturers and even between series. Using the wrong cable can damage components, so always check that a cable is listed as compatible with your PSU model.

Do NVMe SSDs need an NVMe cable?

Most consumer M.2 NVMe SSDs plug straight into a slot on the motherboard and need no cable. NVMe cables are for drives with connectors such as U.2, or for server and workstation backplanes. Check the connector on your drive and on the board first.

Can I plug a 5V ARGB cable into a 12V RGB header?

No. The two standards use different voltages and connectors, and connecting them wrongly can damage the LEDs or the controller. Check the labelling on your motherboard header and on the lighting device, and buy the matching cable or adapter.
