Internal PC power cables connect a power supply to drives, graphics cards, fans and other parts inside a computer case. The range of over 80 models includes Molex and SATA adapters, PCI-E power cables and extensions, suited to anyone building, upgrading or repairing a desktop PC. Brands include StarTech.com, AKASA and Corsair.
How to choose an internal PC power cable
Connector type. Start with the plug on the part you want to power. In our range you will find Molex (4-pin) and SATA 15-pin connectors for drives and older accessories, Molex (3-pin) for fans, and PCI-E 6-pin, 8-pin and 16-pin for graphics cards. Check the socket on your card or drive before ordering.
Adapter or extension. An adapter changes one connector type into another, for example Molex (4-pin) to SATA 15-pin or to PCI-E 6-pin. An extension keeps the same connector and simply adds reach. Many cables here have a female second connector, which suits extensions and splitters that plug into an existing lead.
Cable length. Lengths in our range start at around 0.15 m and run to 0.5 m and beyond, which is enough for most adapters and short extensions. Measure the path from the power supply connector to the device, following the route the cable will take behind the motherboard tray, and add a little slack.
Power supply compatibility. Cables for modular power supplies are usually specific to the manufacturer and sometimes to the series. Never use a modular cable from another brand, because the pin layout at the power supply end can differ and may damage components. For a graphics card, also make sure the cable is rated for its power draw, especially with 16-pin connectors.
Sleeving and colour. Sleeved and coloured cables make no difference to electrical performance. They matter if your case has a window and you want the cabling to match the build. Colours in our range include black, white, red, yellow and multicolour.

Frequently asked questions about internal PC power cables
What is the difference between Molex and SATA power connectors?
Molex is the older, chunkier 4-pin connector, while SATA power is a flat 15-pin connector used by modern hard drives and SSDs. They are not interchangeable without an adapter. Many new power supplies still provide both types.
Can I use a Molex to SATA adapter for an SSD or hard drive?
Yes, a Molex (4-pin) to SATA 15-pin adapter lets a SATA drive run from a Molex lead. It is a practical fix when the power supply has run out of SATA connectors. Avoid chaining several adapters on one lead, as this can overload that cable.
Can I use power cables from a different power supply?
Not safely, if the cable plugs into a modular power supply. The pin layout at the power supply end differs between brands and sometimes between series, and a wrong match can damage parts. Use cables made for your exact unit, or ones that connect only at the device end.
Which cable do I need to power a graphics card?
It depends on the power socket on the card, which may be PCI-E 6-pin, 8-pin or the newer 16-pin. Our range includes all three connector types. Match the socket on your card, then check that your power supply can deliver the required power.
