RGB cases

RGB cases

RGB cases are mid tower PC cases with built-in addressable lighting, usually through RGB fans, light strips or a tempered glass panel that shows off the components. They suit gamers and PC builders who want a visible, customised build. Our range includes models from Thermaltake, AeroCool, DarkFlash, GAMDIAS and Antec.

How to choose an RGB case

Size and compatibility. Most mid tower cases take ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards, but check the maximum graphics card length and CPU cooler height in the specifications. Cases in our range are listed mainly as Midi Tower, so they sit between compact mini cases and bulky full towers.

Airflow and fan support. A glass front looks good but can restrict air, so look for mesh panels or open intake areas. Many cases in our range support 120 mm or 140 mm fans at the rear and top, and some take 240 mm radiators at the top for liquid cooling.

Storage bays. Count the drives you plan to install. Many models offer two 3.5" bays and several 2.5" bays, while some have up to four 3.5" bays or as many as six 2.5" bays. Two bays of each type is enough for most builds that use an NVMe SSD as the main drive.

Lighting control. Addressable RGB (ARGB) fans use a 3-pin 5V header and let you set effects per LED, while older RGB fans use a 4-pin 12V header with one colour at a time. Check that your motherboard has the right header, or that the case includes its own controller with a remote or button.

Front ports. Most cases in our range have two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports on the front panel, and a few have four. If you connect a headset, a VR device and external drives, more ports will save you reaching behind the case.

RGB case brands we carry

  • Thermaltake: a long-established case maker known for tempered glass designs and a large selection of RGB fan options, and the biggest brand in this category in our range.
  • Corsair: known for its iCUE software, which controls lighting on Corsair fans, coolers and memory from one place.
  • ASUS: sells cases under its ROG and TUF Gaming lines, which work with Aura Sync lighting on ASUS motherboards and graphics cards.
  • Cooler Master: has been making PC cases for many years and is known for its MasterBox range and modular layouts.
  • Antec: one of the older names in PC cases and power supplies, known for airflow-focused designs.

Also in our range: AeroCool, DarkFlash, GAMDIAS, Kolink, Sharkoon, AZZA and AQIRYS.

RGB case FAQ

Do I need an RGB motherboard to use an RGB case?

No, but it makes control easier. Many RGB cases come with a small hub or remote that runs the lighting without a motherboard header. If you want effects synced with the rest of your components, you need a motherboard with a matching 5V ARGB or 12V RGB header.

Do RGB cases run hotter than standard cases?

Not because of the lighting itself, since LEDs produce very little heat. Cooling depends on the case design: mesh fronts and well-placed fans keep temperatures down, while a sealed glass front can trap heat. Check how many fans are included and where they can be mounted.

What does mid tower mean for an RGB case?

A mid tower is a mid-sized case that normally fits ATX motherboards and full-length graphics cards. It is the most common size for gaming builds because it leaves room for several fans, a radiator and a few drives. Dimensions vary between models, so compare the maximum GPU length and cooler height.

Are ARGB and RGB the same thing?

No. ARGB (addressable RGB) lets you control each LED separately, which allows flowing and rainbow effects, and it uses a 3-pin 5V connector. Standard RGB uses a 4-pin 12V connector and shows one colour across all LEDs. The two connectors are not interchangeable, so match them to your motherboard or controller.
