How to choose liquid cooling
AIO or custom loop. An AIO cooler arrives sealed, filled and ready to mount, so it is the simpler route for a single CPU. A custom loop is built from separate parts, costs more effort, and lets you cool the GPU as well, choose your own layout and expand later.
Radiator size and case fit. Radiators are sized by the fans they take, such as 120, 240, 280 or 360 mm, and a larger surface generally cools better at lower fan speeds. Check which sizes your case supports at the front, top or rear, and leave room for fans and any fittings that sit close to the radiator.
Compatibility of blocks and mounts. A CPU block must match your socket, and a GPU block must be made for your exact graphics card model and board layout. Check this before anything else, because a block that does not match cannot be used.
Fittings and tubing. Most custom loop parts use a G1/4 thread, but tubing must match the fitting. Soft tubing and hard tubing need different compression fittings, and the outer and inner diameters must agree. Adapters, extensions and rotary fittings help when a route does not line up.
Pump, reservoir and coolant. The pump moves the liquid, and the reservoir makes filling and bleeding air easier. Use coolant intended for PC loops and avoid mixing different fluids or metals carelessly, as this can cause corrosion or deposits.

Is an AIO cooler better than an air cooler?
An AIO cooler is not automatically better, but it can handle high-heat processors more easily, especially in a 280 or 360 mm size. A good air cooler can match a smaller AIO in many builds and has no pump that might fail. AIOs are chosen mainly for stronger cooling and a tidier look around the CPU.
What do I need to build a custom water cooling loop?
A basic custom loop needs a CPU water block, a radiator with fans, a pump, a reservoir, tubing, fittings and coolant. Many builders also add a GPU block, a drain valve and a temperature sensor. Make sure the tubing type and fittings match before you order.
How often should I change the coolant?
Check the coolant manufacturer's guidance, as intervals vary by fluid type. Many users flush and refill a custom loop about once a year, or sooner if the liquid changes colour or clouds. Sealed AIO coolers are not designed to be refilled.
Will a liquid cooler fit in my case?
Check the radiator sizes your case lists for its front, top and rear mounts. Also measure the clearance for the radiator thickness plus fans, and make sure that memory and motherboard heatsinks do not collide with it. Your case manual or specification sheet normally gives these limits.
