Water cooling parts

Water cooling parts

Water cooling parts are the components used to build or extend a liquid cooling loop: fittings, water blocks, reservoirs, pumps, radiators and tubing. They suit PC builders who want a custom loop or need to replace and upgrade parts in an existing one. Brands in our range include Bitspower, Thermaltake, Corsair and Barrow.

How to choose water cooling parts

Tubing and fitting size. Every fitting must match your tube, so decide between soft tubing and rigid tubing first, then note the inner and outer diameter. Most fittings use a G1/4 thread, which is why parts from different makers usually connect to each other.

Block compatibility. A CPU block must support your processor socket, and a GPU block is made for specific graphics card models. Check the exact card model and board layout before ordering, because a block for a similar card often will not fit.

Radiator and case fit. Radiator size sets how much heat the loop can shed, and it must physically fit in your case. Measure the space for the radiator plus fans, and leave room for the reservoir and pump as well.

Materials and finish. Copper and nickel-plated parts are common, and mixing different metals in one loop can cause corrosion over time. Keep to one metal type where you can, and use a coolant that the manufacturer recommends for your parts.

Water cooling brands we carry

  • Bitspower: a Taiwanese specialist in custom loop hardware, best known for its extensive fitting range as well as blocks and reservoirs.
  • Thermaltake: offers a large custom liquid cooling line under the Pacific name, alongside all-in-one coolers.
  • Corsair: sells the Hydro X series of custom loop parts, which are designed to work together and with its iCUE lighting software.
  • Barrow: a Chinese maker known for fittings, CPU blocks and GPU blocks, often with a wide choice of finishes.
  • Singularity Computers: focuses on reservoirs and distribution plates for custom loops and also makes the Protium case.
  • Phanteks: known for the Glacier series of water blocks with addressable RGB lighting.
  • Thermalright: best known for its air coolers and heatsinks, with a smaller presence in liquid cooling.

Also in our range: Coolgate, GAMDIAS, SAVIO, INLINE and Endorfy.

Water cooling parts: frequently asked questions

Can I mix water cooling parts from different brands?

Yes, in most cases. Many makers use the standard G1/4 thread, so fittings, blocks and reservoirs from different brands usually connect. Check that the fittings suit your tube diameter, and avoid mixing different metals in the same loop.

What parts do I need to build a custom water cooling loop?

A basic loop needs a CPU water block, a pump, a reservoir, a radiator with fans, fittings, tubing and coolant. Many builders also add a GPU block, which extends the loop and increases the radiator capacity needed. Pump and reservoir are often sold as a single combined unit.

How often should I change the coolant?

It depends on the coolant type and the manufacturer's advice. Many builders drain and refill the loop about once a year, and sooner if the liquid changes colour, turns cloudy or leaves deposits. Always follow the guidance for the specific coolant you use.

Is a custom loop better than an all-in-one liquid cooler?

A custom loop can cool better because it allows larger radiators and can include the graphics card. It also costs more, takes longer to assemble and needs regular maintenance. An all-in-one cooler is sealed, simpler to fit and needs no upkeep.
