Graphics cards

Our graphics cards category covers gaming and desktop cards, workstation cards, server and AI accelerators and a small number of accessories, with over 600 products in total. It suits gamers, designers, engineers and anyone upgrading an existing PC. Leading brands include GIGABYTE, ASUS, PNY and ZOTAC, alongside NVIDIA and AMD themselves.

How to choose a graphics card

Intended use. Gaming cards are tuned for frame rates in games. Workstation cards are built for professional software such as CAD, 3D rendering and video production, and usually come with more memory and drivers aimed at stability. Server and AI accelerators are designed for data centre and machine learning workloads, so most home PC builds can skip them.

Video memory and memory type. Cards in our range with 8 GB and 16 GB are listed most often, with 12 GB, 24 GB and 32 GB models above them. 8 GB can still cope with 1080p gaming, but higher resolutions, large 3D scenes and AI models benefit from 16 GB or more. GDDR7 is the newest memory type in our range, GDDR6 is common on the previous generation, and older GDDR5 cards suit only basic display output or legacy machines.

Ports and resolution. Count the connections your monitors use before you buy. Many cards in our range offer one HDMI and three DisplayPort outputs, and several support up to 7680 x 4320 pixels, but some workstation models have no HDMI port at all. Match the cable type to your monitor, especially if you want a high refresh rate.

Size and power. Check the card length, how many slots it occupies and which power connectors it needs, then compare this with your case and power supply. Large triple-fan cards often do not fit small cases, so measure the free space first.

Graphics processor family. Cards in our range use NVIDIA or AMD processors, plus a few Matrox models, which are generally chosen for multi-display setups. Many professional and AI applications support NVIDIA CUDA, so check your software requirements before choosing between the two.

Graphics card brands we carry

  • GIGABYTE: known for its Windforce cooling and the Aorus gaming series, and the brand with the most graphics cards in our range.
  • ASUS: makes the ROG Strix and TUF Gaming lines, which are recognised for large coolers and strong build quality.
  • PNY: an NVIDIA partner that sells both GeForce gaming cards and professional RTX workstation cards.
  • NVIDIA: designs the GeForce and RTX professional graphics processors, and also supplies cards under its own name.
  • AMD: the maker of Radeon graphics, the main alternative to NVIDIA for gaming and general desktop use.
  • MSI: offers the Gaming X, Ventus and Suprim series, covering entry-level to high-end desktop cards.
  • ZOTAC: known for its Twin Edge cards, which are shorter than many rivals and easier to fit in smaller cases.
  • INNO3D: best known for its iChill and Twin X2 cooler designs on NVIDIA-based cards.
  • ASRock: sells Phantom Gaming and Steel Legend cards, mostly built around AMD Radeon processors.
  • Palit: known for its GameRock and JetStream series of NVIDIA-based cards.

Gaming and desktop graphics cards make up most of the category, followed by a large group of workstation cards. A few accessories and a small selection of server and AI accelerators are also available. Also in our range: BIOSTAR.

Graphics card FAQ

How much VRAM do I need in a graphics card?

For 1080p gaming 8 GB is the usual minimum, while 12 GB to 16 GB is a safer choice for 1440p and 4K. Video editing, 3D rendering and AI work can use 24 GB or 32 GB. Larger textures and scenes simply need more memory to hold them.

Is GDDR7 better than GDDR6?

GDDR7 is the newer standard and offers higher memory bandwidth than GDDR6. The overall performance of a card still depends on its graphics processor, memory size and cooling. A well-specified GDDR6 card can outperform a basic GDDR7 model from a lower tier.

What is the difference between a gaming and a workstation graphics card?

A gaming card is built for the best frame rates in games, while a workstation card is built for professional applications. Workstation cards typically have more memory, drivers tested with CAD and design software, and support for several high-resolution displays. Gaming cards are generally better suited to games and everyday home use.

Will a new graphics card fit my PC?

It fits if your case has enough space for its length and thickness, and the motherboard has a free PCIe x16 slot. Your power supply must also provide enough wattage and the right power connectors. Check these figures on the product page against your current setup before ordering.
