Intel LGA1700 motherboards

Intel LGA1700 motherboards

This category holds Intel LGA1700 motherboards for 12th, 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors, in micro ATX, ATX and mini ITX sizes. They suit anyone building or upgrading a home, office or gaming PC. Leading brands in our range are GIGABYTE, ASUS, ASRock and MSI, with both DDR4 and DDR5 boards.

How to choose an LGA1700 motherboard

Memory type. A board takes either DDR4 or DDR5, never both, and the two module types do not fit each other's slots. Our range includes both, so decide first whether you are reusing existing DDR4 memory or buying new DDR5.

Form factor. Micro ATX boards are the most common size in our range, followed by ATX, with a small number of mini ITX models. Pick the size that matches your case: ATX gives more expansion slots, micro ATX suits smaller cases, and mini ITX is for the smallest builds.

Chipset and processor. Entry-level chipsets such as H610 and B660 or B760 cover most home and office PCs. Only Z-series chipsets such as Z690 and Z790 allow overclocking of unlocked K-series processors, so choose one only if you plan to tune the CPU.

BIOS compatibility. Some earlier 600-series boards need a BIOS update before they recognise 13th or 14th generation processors. Check the processor support list for the exact board model before buying.

Memory capacity and connections. Maximum supported memory in our range runs from 64 GB and 96 GB up to 128 GB, 192 GB and 256 GB, which matters for video editing or virtual machines. Most boards with listed specifications have four SATA III ports and one Ethernet port, so check this if you plan to fit several drives.

Frequently asked questions about LGA1700 motherboards

Which processors work with an LGA1700 motherboard?

LGA1700 boards take 12th, 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors. Some boards need a BIOS update to support the newer 13th and 14th generation chips, so check the manufacturer's CPU support list for your board.

Should I choose a DDR4 or DDR5 LGA1700 motherboard?

Choose DDR5 if you are building a new system and want the newer memory standard, and DDR4 if you already have compatible modules to reuse. The two types are not interchangeable, so the board decides which one you can install.

Do I need a Z-series chipset?

No, most users do not. Z-series chipsets are needed for overclocking K-series processors, while H610, B660 and B760 boards handle normal office, home and gaming use at stock speeds.

Is micro ATX or ATX better for an LGA1700 build?

Neither is better in every case, because it depends on your case and expansion needs. ATX boards usually offer more PCIe slots and connectors, while micro ATX boards fit smaller cases and are the most common size in our range.
