Intel LGA1851 motherboards are boards for Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processors, sold in micro ATX, ATX and mini ITX sizes. They suit anyone building a new gaming PC, workstation or office computer on this platform. Our range includes models from ASRock, Gigabyte, ASUS and MSI.
How to choose an LGA1851 motherboard
Chipset. The chipset sets the feature level. Z890 boards are the ones that allow processor overclocking and usually offer the most M.2 slots and fast USB ports. B860 boards suit most buyers who want solid features without paying for overclocking, and H810 boards cover basic builds.
Form factor. Micro ATX and ATX are the most common sizes in our range, with a smaller number of mini ITX boards and an Extended ATX model. Check your case first: ATX needs a full-size case, micro ATX fits most mid-size cases, and mini ITX is for small builds where you have fewer expansion slots and fewer memory slots.
Memory. LGA1851 boards use DDR5 memory, so older DDR4 modules will not fit. The maximum supported memory in our range is 96 GB, 128 GB, 192 GB or 256 GB depending on the board. For gaming and general use, 32 GB is plenty, while video editing and virtual machines benefit from more headroom.
Storage. The number of M.2 slots varies from one to six across our range, and many boards have two to four. Most boards listed with SATA data have four SATA III connectors for hard drives and 2.5-inch SSDs. Count the drives you plan to fit now and add a spare slot or two for later.
Networking and ports. Most boards in our range have one Ethernet port, while a few offer two, which is useful for a home server or a router build. Check how many USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectors you need for fast external drives, and whether the board has the Wi-Fi and front-panel connectors your case requires.

LGA1851 motherboard FAQ
Which processors work with an LGA1851 motherboard?
LGA1851 boards work with Intel Core Ultra 200S series desktop processors. They do not support 12th, 13th or 14th generation Intel Core chips, which use the LGA1700 socket. Check the processor model on the manufacturer's support list, as some chips may need a BIOS update.
Do LGA1851 motherboards use DDR4 or DDR5 memory?
LGA1851 motherboards are built for DDR5 memory. DDR4 modules have a different notch position and will not physically fit. If you are upgrading from an older PC, plan to buy new RAM along with the board and processor.
Can I use my old LGA1700 cooler on an LGA1851 board?
Often yes, because LGA1851 and LGA1700 use the same mounting hole spacing. Many coolers made for LGA1700 will fit, but you should confirm with the cooler manufacturer. Also check that the cooler clears the memory and fits your case.
How many M.2 slots do I need on a motherboard?
Most users need two M.2 slots: one for the operating system and one for games or files. Creative work and large libraries may justify three or more, and boards in our range go up to six. If you only need one fast drive, a board with a single slot is enough and is often found on smaller boards.
