Desktop computers

Desktop computers in our range include all-in-one PCs, business desktops, mini PCs and NUC, workstations and gaming PCs, for home offices, companies, creators and gamers. With over 2,500 models from Lenovo, Dell, HP, ASUS, MSI, Acer and Apple, you can compare systems by processor, graphics, storage and size.

How to choose a desktop computer

Type and size. All-in-one PCs build the screen into the computer and save desk space. Tower business desktops are easier to repair and upgrade, and mini PCs fit behind a monitor or on a shelf. Choose the form that matches your desk before you compare specifications.

Processor. Many models in our range use Intel Core Ultra 5, Core Ultra 7 or Core Ultra 9, with Intel Core i3 and i5 and AMD Ryzen 5 also available. Core i3 and Ryzen 5 class chips handle office work, browsing and video calls. Choose a higher tier for video editing, 3D work or running several demanding programmes at once.

Graphics. Most everyday desktops use the graphics built into the processor, which is enough for documents and video. Gaming PCs in our range carry cards such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti. Workstations offer professional cards such as the NVIDIA RTX A400 and RTX A1000 for CAD and design software.

Storage and memory. SSD storage is the norm in our range, and 512 GB and 1 TB are the capacities that appear most often, with 2 TB and 4 TB available for large media libraries. For office use, 16 GB of RAM is a sensible starting point. Video editing and engineering software benefit from 32 GB or more.

Operating system and ports. Windows 11 Pro is installed on many models and suits business use, thanks to its management and security features. Windows 11 Home is also available, along with some systems with Ubuntu Linux or no operating system. Check the number of USB ports if you connect many peripherals, as some compact models have only a few.

Desktop computer FAQ

What is the difference between a desktop PC and an all-in-one PC?

A desktop PC is a separate computer unit that connects to a monitor, keyboard and mouse of your choice. An all-in-one PC has the screen and computer in one housing, so it needs less space and fewer cables. The trade-off is that upgrading or replacing parts is usually harder.

How much storage do I need in a desktop computer?

For most home and office users, 512 GB of SSD storage is enough. Choose 1 TB if you keep many photos, videos or large programmes. Creators and gamers with big libraries may want 2 TB or more.

Is a mini PC powerful enough to replace a desktop?

A mini PC can replace a full desktop for office work, browsing, streaming and video calls. Models with fast processors also manage light editing and multitasking. For demanding games or professional 3D work, a tower with a dedicated graphics card is usually the better choice.

Do I need a workstation or a business desktop?

A business desktop suits office software, accounting and web applications. A workstation is worth considering if you run CAD, 3D rendering, simulation or heavy video editing. Workstations typically pair professional graphics cards, such as the NVIDIA RTX A series, with more memory and cooling.
