AGM lead-acid batteries are sealed, maintenance-free batteries used mainly to power UPS units, alarm systems and other small backup equipment. This category suits anyone replacing a worn battery or building a backup supply. Our range of over 60 models includes Qoltec, Avacom, Green Cell and APC.
Despite the laptop accessories location, these batteries are not fitted inside laptops. They sit in external backup devices.
How to choose an AGM lead-acid battery
Voltage and capacity. Match the voltage of the original battery exactly, as most small backup units use 12 V blocks and some use 6 V. Capacity is measured in ampere-hours (Ah): a higher figure gives longer runtime, but only if the new battery has the same voltage and fits the housing.
Size and terminals. Measure the old battery or check its label for length, width, height and terminal type. Two batteries with the same voltage and Ah rating can still differ in terminal shape or position, which affects whether the cables reach.
Exact replacement or generic block. Some products are made as a replacement for a specific UPS model, for example APC replacement battery cartridges, and these usually arrive with the correct connectors and wiring. A generic 12 V block is often cheaper, but you may need to reuse the old connectors and check that the fit is right.
Intended use. Batteries designed for standby use in a UPS or alarm panel stay on charge for years and rarely discharge deeply. If you need repeated deep discharges, check that the product description states it is suited to cyclic use. Replace several batteries in one UPS at the same time, so a weak old one does not drag down a new one.
AGM battery brands we carry
- APC: a well-known UPS manufacturer whose replacement battery cartridges are built for its own UPS models.
- Avacom: a Czech brand known for replacement batteries for UPS units and portable electronics.
- Qoltec: a Polish brand of power and computer accessories, with batteries sold alongside chargers and UPS products.
- Green Cell: a brand known for replacement batteries and chargers for laptops and UPS units, so it is useful when you need several power parts from one source.
- Tecnoware: an Italian manufacturer of UPS systems, which also supplies batteries for them.

AGM lead-acid battery FAQ
What is an AGM battery?
An AGM battery is a sealed lead-acid battery in which the electrolyte is absorbed in glass-fibre mats. This means it does not need topping up with water and can be mounted without the spill risk of a flooded battery. It is commonly used in UPS units, alarm systems and emergency lighting.
Can I use an AGM battery in my laptop?
No, a laptop uses its own lithium-ion battery pack, not an AGM lead-acid block. AGM batteries are intended for external backup devices such as a UPS that keeps a computer running during a power cut. For the laptop itself, look for a battery or charger made for your exact model.
How do I find the right battery for my UPS?
Start with the label on the existing battery, which shows voltage and capacity in Ah. Then compare dimensions and terminal type with the new product. If your UPS manufacturer lists a replacement battery number for your model, use that to avoid fitting problems.
How long does an AGM UPS battery last?
In a UPS, an AGM battery often lasts around three to five years, depending on temperature, how often the power fails and the battery quality. Heat shortens its life more than most owners expect. If your UPS reports a battery fault or its runtime has dropped sharply, it is time to replace it.
