Industrial power supplies convert mains AC into a stable low-voltage DC output for control cabinets, automation equipment, network devices and other fixed installations. Our range covers DIN rail and enclosed units, and is led by MEAN WELL and PULS, with networking brands such as PLANET and LevelOne alongside them.
How to choose an industrial power supply
Output voltage. Match the voltage to the device you are powering, because it cannot be adjusted far from its rating. 12 V, 24 V and 48 V are the most widespread in industrial work, and 24 V is the usual standard for control cabinets and PLCs. Check the label or manual of the equipment first.
Power and current. Add up the load of everything connected, then choose a unit rated comfortably above it. Leaving around 20 to 30 percent headroom keeps the supply cooler and gives room for startup surges and future additions.
Mounting and housing. DIN rail models clip straight into a standard cabinet rail and suit panel builds. Enclosed chassis or open-frame units are usually screwed into equipment or a housing. Check the available space and the way your cabinet is arranged before ordering.
Input and operating conditions. Confirm that the AC input range suits your mains supply. For installations in hot cabinets, look at the rated operating temperature and at whether output must be derated as it gets warmer. Efficiency also matters, since a more efficient unit wastes less energy as heat.
Industrial power supply brands we carry
- MEAN WELL: a Taiwanese manufacturer known for switching power supplies, with DIN rail, enclosed and open-frame models. It makes up most of our range.
- PULS: a German specialist in DIN rail power supplies, well regarded among panel builders and automation engineers.
- PLANET and LEVELONE: networking brands known for switches, media converters and PoE equipment, so their power units suit network installations.
- AXIS COMMUNICATIONS: best known for network cameras and video surveillance, with power accessories for those systems.
Also in our range: DEHNER and EFB Elektronik.
Industrial power supplies: frequently asked questions
What is an industrial power supply?
An industrial power supply is a unit that turns mains AC into a regulated DC output for equipment in cabinets, machines and network installations. It is built for continuous operation rather than occasional use. Many models mount on a DIN rail.
Can I use an industrial power supply instead of a laptop charger?
Only if its output voltage, current and connector match what the laptop requires, and in most cases a dedicated laptop charger is the simpler choice. Industrial units normally have screw terminals rather than a plug, and are designed for fixed installation. They are intended for equipment such as controllers, sensors and network devices.
What does 24 V DIN rail power supply mean?
It means a power supply that delivers 24 volts DC and clips onto a standard DIN rail inside a cabinet. 24 V is the common supply voltage for PLCs, relays, sensors and many industrial switches. Always check the total current your devices draw before choosing the wattage.
How much power capacity do I need?
Add up the current or wattage of every connected device and choose a supply rated at least 20 to 30 percent above that total. This headroom reduces heat and copes with peak loads at startup. If you plan to add devices later, allow for them now.
