Universal laptop adapters are replacement mains chargers that fit many laptop models through interchangeable connector tips. They suit anyone who has lost, damaged or needs a spare charger. Our range includes over 350 models, mostly from 2-Power, with Akyga, Qoltec and Lenovo also available.
How to choose a universal laptop adapter
Output voltage. Match the voltage printed on your original charger. Output voltages in our range include 18 V and 19 V, and many laptops run on around 19 V, but some models need other values, so check the label rather than assuming.
Wattage and current. Pick an adapter that supplies at least the wattage or amperage of your original charger. A higher rating is fine when the voltage is correct, because the laptop only draws what it needs. A lower rating can lead to slow charging, a warm adapter or a laptop that drains under load.
Connector tip. The tip must fit your laptop's charging port in both size and pin layout. Check the list of tips supplied with the adapter against the make and model of your laptop. Some newer laptops charge through USB-C instead of a barrel connector, and these need a different type of charger.
Polarity and protection. Make sure the polarity of the tip matches your original charger, since a reversed centre pin can damage the laptop. Look for stated protection against short circuits, overvoltage and overheating, especially on adapters you will use every day.
Cable length and size. A longer cable helps when the socket is far from your desk. If you travel with the laptop, a smaller, lighter adapter is easier to carry in a bag.

Frequently asked questions about universal laptop adapters
Can a universal adapter charge any laptop?
No, it can charge only laptops whose requirements it meets. The output voltage must match your laptop, the wattage must be equal to or higher than the original charger, and one of the supplied tips must fit the charging port. If any of these do not match, choose a different adapter.
How do I find out which voltage my laptop needs?
Read the output line on the label of your original charger, which shows the voltage (V) and current (A) or wattage (W). If you no longer have the charger, look at the label under the laptop or in the manufacturer's specifications. Match that voltage when choosing a replacement.
Is it safe to use an adapter with a higher wattage?
Yes, provided the voltage and polarity are correct. The laptop draws only the power it needs, so a higher-wattage adapter simply has spare capacity. An adapter with lower wattage than the original is the one to avoid.
What is the difference between a universal and a model-specific adapter?
A universal adapter comes with several interchangeable tips so it can be used with many laptops. A model-specific adapter has one fixed plug made for a particular laptop or brand. The universal type is more flexible, while the model-specific type removes the need to choose a tip.
