Laptop replacement screens

Laptop replacement screens

This category contains replacement laptop screens, mainly complete LED and LCD display panels, plus a few display covers, hinges and bezels. It suits anyone repairing a cracked, dim or flickering laptop display. Leading brands in our range include 2-Power, Lenovo, CoreParts, Dell and Acer, with over 2,900 products in total.

How to choose a laptop replacement screen

Match the exact model. Start with the full model number of your laptop, found on the label underneath, and compare it with the part number printed on the back of the old panel. Two laptops with the same screen size can use different panels, so size alone is not enough.

Screen size. The sizes in our range run from 11.6 inch to 17.3 inch, with 15.6 inch and 14 inch the most widely listed. Smaller options include 12.5 inch and 13.3 inch. The diagonal must match the original, because the bezel and hinges are built around it.

Resolution and panel type. Most listed panels are 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) or 1366 x 768 (HD), with 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1200 also available, and a handful of Quad HD and 4K Ultra HD models. Keep the resolution of the original unless you know your laptop supports a different one. IPS panels offer wider viewing angles than the TN type, though most panels in our range are described simply as LED or LCD.

Connector. The cable connector is one of the most common reasons a replacement panel does not fit. Our range includes 30-pin and 40-pin versions, and the 30-pin type is listed more often. Look at the connector on your old panel and check that the pin count and its position on the panel match.

Glossy or matt finish. More of the screens with this detail listed are matt than glossy, but both exist. A glossy finish gives stronger colours and more reflections, while a matt one is easier to use near windows. Choosing the same finish as the original keeps the look unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the right replacement screen for my laptop?

Use the exact laptop model number and, if possible, the part number printed on the back of the old panel. Then check the screen size, resolution and connector type against what is listed. If any of these differ, the screen may not fit or work.

Can I replace an HD screen with a Full HD one?

Sometimes, but only if the laptop and its display cable support the higher resolution. Many laptops that shipped with a 1366 x 768 panel use a different connector from a 1920 x 1080 panel. Check the connector and the manufacturer's specifications before ordering.

What is the difference between a 30-pin and a 40-pin screen connector?

The number refers to the pins in the display cable connector, and the two types are not interchangeable. 30-pin connectors are common on many modern laptops, and 40-pin ones are found on a smaller group of models. Look at the connector on your old panel or the laptop's service information to confirm which one you need.

Can I replace a laptop screen myself?

On many laptops you can, using small screwdrivers and a plastic tool to release the bezel. Switch the laptop off, unplug the charger and, where possible, disconnect the battery first. Some slim models are harder to open, so look up a guide for your exact model before you begin.
