Hi-fi systems and micro systems are all-in-one music players that combine a radio, amplifier and speakers, usually with a CD player, for people who want good home sound without buying separate components. Our range covers micro and hi-fi systems from Blaupunkt, JVC, Adler and Soundmaster, among others.
How to choose a hi-fi or micro system
Sources and formats. Decide how you actually listen: CDs, radio, USB sticks or a phone. Some systems in our range list MP3 playback, so check the specification for the formats and connections you need before ordering.
Radio bands. If you listen to digital radio, look for DAB+ as well as FM. Our range includes models with DAB, DAB+ and FM, while others offer FM only. Many have 20 or 40 preset stations, which matters if you switch between several favourites.
Power output. RMS power is the continuous output and is a more honest guide than peak figures. Models in our range list values from about 14 W up to 50 W. Lower figures suit a bedroom or kitchen, while 30 W and above gives more headroom in a living room.
Display, power and standby. Displays in our range are LCD, LED or TFT, and a clear display makes browsing stations and tracks easier. Most systems run from mains power, though a few also work on batteries. Standby consumption is listed at 0.5 W on several models, which is worth comparing if the system stays plugged in all day.

Hi-fi and micro system FAQ
What is the difference between a micro system and a hi-fi system?
A micro system puts the amplifier, radio, player and speakers into one small set, so setup is quick. Traditional hi-fi uses separate components, which allows upgrades piece by piece but needs more space and cabling. For most households a micro system is the simpler choice.
Do I need DAB+ on a micro system?
DAB+ is worth having if you want digital radio with a wider choice of stations and clearer reception than FM in many areas. Check which radio bands the model supports, because some systems offer FM only. If you mainly play CDs or USB music, FM alone may be enough.
How many watts do I need from a hi-fi system?
For a small to medium room, 20 W to 30 W RMS is usually enough for comfortable listening. Larger rooms or louder listening call for 45 W or more. Compare RMS ratings rather than peak power, as RMS reflects continuous output.
Can a micro system play MP3 files?
Many can, but not all. Several systems in our range list MP3 support, usually through a CD or USB connection. Check the specification of the model you are considering to confirm the formats and inputs it accepts.
