Food processors and meat grinders

Food processors and meat grinders

Food processors, kitchen machines and meat grinders for home cooks who chop, knead, mince and slice regularly. Our range includes over 280 models from leading brands such as Bosch, Kenwood, KitchenAid and Philips, plus smaller makers of pasta machines and mincers.

How to choose a food processor or meat grinder

Type of machine. A food processor chops, slices, grates and purees with interchangeable blades and discs. A kitchen machine (stand mixer) adds kneading and whisking and usually accepts extra attachments. If you mainly mince meat or make sausages, a dedicated meat grinder gives a more even texture than a processor.

Bowl capacity. Bowls in our range run from about 0.6 L for small chopping jobs to 4.7 L and 4.8 L on kitchen machines that can knead dough for a family loaf. Around 2 to 2.3 L is usually enough for one or two people, while larger bowls matter if you bake or cook in batches.

Motor power. Listed power in our range starts at about 200 W and goes beyond 1200 W, with 300 W appearing most often. Lower ratings suit chopping and light mixing. Stiff dough, hard cheese and minced meat put more load on the motor, so look at 800 W or more for those jobs. Kitchen machines gain strength through their gearing, so wattage alone does not tell the whole story.

Attachments. Check which accessories are included and which can be added later. Common options are slicing and grating discs, dough hooks, whisks, blenders, pasta rollers and meat grinder fittings. Buying a machine that accepts attachments is often cheaper than owning several single-purpose appliances.

Cleaning and build. Dishwasher-safe bowls and blades save time after every use. Stainless steel bowls are durable, while plastic ones are lighter to lift. Finishes in our range include white, black, stainless steel, silver, red and cream, which matters if the machine will stay on the worktop.

Food processors and meat grinders: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a food processor and a kitchen machine?

A food processor is built for cutting tasks such as chopping, slicing, grating and pureeing. A kitchen machine is a stand mixer with a larger bowl that kneads, whisks and mixes, and it can take attachments for other jobs. If you bake bread or cakes often, a kitchen machine is the better fit.

How many watts does a food processor need?

For chopping vegetables and light mixing, 300 W to 700 W is generally enough. For kneading dough, grinding meat or processing hard ingredients regularly, 800 W or more gives the motor more headroom. Gearing and build quality also affect performance, so wattage is a guide rather than a guarantee.

Can a food processor mince meat?

Many food processors can chop trimmed, cold meat in short pulses, but the result is less even than from a meat grinder. A grinder pushes meat through a plate with set hole sizes, which gives a consistent texture. Some kitchen machines accept a grinder attachment, so one motor can cover both jobs.

What bowl size should I choose?

A bowl of about 2 to 2.3 L suits most households of one or two people. Families, or anyone who bakes bread and cooks in batches, will find 4.7 L and 4.8 L bowls more practical. Small bowls of around 0.6 L work for chopping herbs, nuts or sauces but not for dough.
