Vacuums and robots

Vacuums and robots

Vacuums and robots covers robot vacuum cleaners, canister, stick, handheld and wet/dry models, plus steam cleaners, floor and carpet cleaners, window cleaners and a large selection of accessories. It suits households replacing an old vacuum, people who want automatic daily cleaning and workshops that need industrial suction. Roborock, Kärcher, Dreame and Bosch are among the leading brands.

How to choose a vacuum cleaner or robot

Type of vacuum. Robot vacuums handle daily upkeep of floors without effort, while canister models usually give the strongest suction and the longest reach for whole-home cleaning. Stick and handheld vacuums are quicker to grab for spills, stairs and the car.

Dust container. Bagless models are the most common in our range and save you buying bags, but emptying them releases some dust. Models that use a dust bag are easier on allergy sufferers because the dirt stays sealed in, and some combi models offer both options.

Floor type and mopping. Hard floors, short carpet and thick rugs need different brush designs and suction settings. If you have mostly tiles or laminate, a robot with a mopping function can save a separate cleaning job, whereas deep carpets are better served by a dedicated carpet cleaner or a strong canister vacuum.

Cordless or corded. A cordless stick vacuum is convenient, but battery runtime limits how much you can clean in one go, so check the runtime and whether the battery is replaceable. A corded canister vacuum runs for as long as you need and suits larger homes.

Accessories and spares. Filters, brushes, bags, mop pads and extra nozzles wear out or get lost, and our range includes a large number of them. Check that the part is listed as compatible with your exact model before ordering.

Vacuums and robots: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a robot vacuum and a stick vacuum?

A robot vacuum cleans on its own on a schedule or at the touch of a button, while a stick vacuum is pushed by hand. Robots are best for regular upkeep of open floors, but they struggle with stairs and corners. A stick vacuum is better for stairs, furniture and quick manual jobs.

Is a bagless or a bagged vacuum better?

Bagless vacuums are cheaper to run because you do not buy bags, and you can see when the container is full. Bagged vacuums are tidier to empty and usually better for people with dust allergies. Which is better depends on whether running costs or hygiene matters more to you.

Can a robot vacuum replace a normal vacuum?

For daily upkeep of flat floors, a robot vacuum can replace most routine vacuuming. It will still miss edges, stairs and deep carpet pile, so many households keep a stick or handheld vacuum for those areas.

What is a wet/dry vacuum used for?

A wet/dry vacuum picks up both dry dirt and liquids, so it is used for spills, flooded areas, workshop dust and garage clean-ups. Most have a large tank and a robust hose. Check the tank size and whether the filter is suitable for fine dust before buying.
