Power banks with built-in cable

Power banks with built-in cable

Power banks with built-in cable are portable batteries that carry their own charging lead, so you can top up a phone or tablet without packing a separate cable. They suit commuters, travellers and anyone who regularly forgets a cable. Our range of over 20 models includes Anker, Xiaomi, Belkin and Dudao.

How to choose a power bank with built-in cable

Capacity. Capacity is measured in mAh and tells you how many times the power bank can recharge a phone. A 5,000 mAh model gives roughly one charge for most phones, while 10,000 mAh gives about two. Larger capacities suit tablets and longer trips, but they add weight.

Connector type. Check that the built-in cable matches your device. USB-C is now standard on most Android phones, tablets and many newer iPhones, while older iPhones use Lightning. Some models combine a built-in cable with a spare USB port, which lets you charge a second device or use a different cable when needed.

Output power. Output in watts decides how quickly the battery charges your device. A low-output model is fine for overnight top-ups or earbuds, but a phone with fast charging or a tablet charges much more slowly on it. If you want to charge a laptop, you need a high-output model, and a built-in cable on its own is rarely enough for that.

Recharging the power bank. A power bank is only useful if it is charged, so look at how it refills. USB-C input is the most convenient because you can use the same charger as your phone. Higher input power shortens the wait, which matters for large batteries.

Cable design and portability. The built-in cable is the part most likely to wear out, so look at how it is stored. Cables that fold into the body or clip into a recess are less likely to snag in a bag. Think about weight and thickness too, as a device that fits in a jacket pocket is far more likely to be carried every day.

Frequently asked questions about power banks with built-in cable

Is a power bank with built-in cable better than a standard one?

It is more convenient, but not always more capable. A built-in cable means one less item to carry or forget, which suits daily use. A standard power bank is more flexible if you charge several different devices, although some built-in cable models also have a spare USB port.

What capacity do I need for a phone?

For one full charge of most phones, 5,000 mAh is usually enough. For two or three charges, or for a weekend away, 10,000 mAh or more is a safer choice. Real-world results are lower than the printed capacity because some energy is lost as heat during charging.

Can I take a power bank on a plane?

Yes, in hand luggage, but not in checked baggage. Airlines generally allow power banks up to 100 Wh, which covers most models of around 27,000 mAh or less. Check your airline's rules before you fly, as limits on the number of units can differ.

Will the built-in cable charge an iPhone and an Android phone?

Only if the connector fits. A built-in USB-C cable charges devices with USB-C, including many Android phones and recent iPhones, while a Lightning cable is needed for older iPhones. Check the connector type in the product details before buying.
