Wireless chargers

Wireless chargers

Wireless chargers in our range include single charging pads and multi-device chargers for smartphones, smartwatches and earbuds, for anyone who prefers to put a device down on a surface instead of plugging in a cable. Over 20 models are available from brands such as Belkin, Tellur, Apple and Google.

How to choose a wireless charger

Charging standard. Qi is the common standard, used by recent iPhones and many Android phones. Qi2 and MagSafe add magnets that hold the phone in position. Our range includes universal chargers as well as models listed for smartphone, smartwatch and headphones together.

Power and adapter. A wireless charger needs a suitable mains adapter to work at its best. Input values in our range include 5 V and 9 V, and 5, 9 and 12 V, with input currents up to 3 A. Wireless charging is generally slower than a good cable, and the maximum wireless speed of your phone sets the limit.

Shape and layout. A flat pad suits a bedside table or desk. A stand keeps the screen visible for notifications and video calls. A multi-device base saves sockets if you charge a phone, watch and earbuds together. Finishes in our range include white, grey and aluminium.

Cases and alignment. Most wireless chargers work through slim plastic or silicone cases. Thick cases, metal plates, card holders and pop-out grips can weaken or block charging. Magnetic models hold firmly only with a phone or case designed for magnets.

Wireless chargers: frequently asked questions

Do wireless chargers work through a phone case?

Yes, most work through slim plastic or silicone cases. Thick cases, metal parts, card holders and grips can reduce charging speed or stop it entirely. If charging keeps dropping out, remove the case and test again.

Is wireless charging slower than using a cable?

Usually, yes. Some energy is lost as heat during wireless transfer, so a good cable normally charges faster. The speed also depends on your phone and on the power adapter connected to the charger.

Do I need a special adapter for a wireless charger?

In most cases you need a mains adapter with a suitable output, as the charger itself only converts power. Input specifications in our range include 5 V, 9 V and 12 V, so check the voltage and current listed on the product page. A weak adapter can make charging slow.

Can one wireless charger charge a phone, watch and earbuds?

Yes, if it is a multi-device model with the right positions for each product. Some chargers in our range are listed for smartphones, smartwatches and headphones together. Smartwatches often use their own charging method, so check compatibility with your exact watch before buying.
