Smartwatches

Smartwatches in our range include full smartwatches, sports watches, fitness bands and smart rings, plus straps, chargers and power banks to go with them. They suit anyone who wants notifications, health tracking or GPS training data on the wrist or finger. Leading brands include Apple, Garmin, Samsung and Huawei.

How to choose a smartwatch

Phone compatibility. Check this first. Apple Watch models work only with an iPhone, while Samsung and Google watches run Wear OS and suit Android phones best. Huawei and Garmin watches connect to both Android and iPhone through their own apps.

Main use. For everyday notifications, payments and calls, a mainstream smartwatch from Apple, Samsung or Google is the natural fit. For running, cycling, hiking or swimming, a dedicated sports watch from Garmin or Polar gives more accurate GPS tracking and training metrics. If you only want step counts and sleep data, a fitness band is simpler.

Battery life. Full smartwatches with bright colour screens typically need charging every day or two. Sports watches and fitness bands often last several days or longer, and some Garmin models stretch further in power-saving modes. If you hate daily charging or travel into remote areas, prioritise battery over extra apps.

Size and straps. A watch that is too large sits badly on a slim wrist and can disturb sleep tracking. Check the case size in millimetres and the strap width. Our watch straps subcategory covers replacements and alternatives, so you can change the look or swap a worn strap, and watch screen protectors and cases are also available.

Watch or ring. A smart ring has no screen, so it will not show messages. It is worn all day and night, which makes it a good choice for sleep and recovery tracking. Many buyers choose a ring as a discreet second device alongside a watch.

Smartwatch FAQ

Can I use an Apple Watch with an Android phone?

No, Apple Watch needs an iPhone for setup and daily use. If you have an Android phone, look at Samsung, Google, Huawei or Garmin watches instead. These connect to Android through their own apps.

Which smartwatch has the best battery life?

Sports watches and fitness bands generally last longer than full smartwatches. Garmin and Huawei models are often chosen for multi-day battery life, while most Apple Watch and Wear OS watches need charging every day or two. Screen brightness, GPS use and always-on display settings all shorten battery life.

Should I buy a smartwatch or a smart ring?

Choose a smartwatch if you want notifications, maps, calls and workout screens. Choose a smart ring if you mainly want sleep and recovery tracking in a discreet form. A ring has no display, so it cannot replace a watch for showing messages or navigation.

Do I need a cellular smartwatch?

Most people do not. A standard Bluetooth smartwatch uses your phone for calls and data, which is enough if you carry the phone with you. A cellular model suits runners or swimmers who want to make calls or stream music without a phone, but it needs a compatible mobile plan.
