How to choose ink cartridges and bottles
Printer compatibility. Match the cartridge to your exact printer model, not just the brand. Look for the model name on the front of the printer, then check the cartridge number on the one you are replacing, as similar-looking cartridges are often not interchangeable.
Cartridge or refill bottle. Cartridges are clipped into the print head or carriage and replaced whole. Bottles are for ink tank printers, where you pour ink into built-in tanks. Most ink tank printers only accept bottles, and most cartridge printers cannot be converted, so check which system you have.
Original or compatible. Original cartridges from the printer maker are designed and tested for your model. Compatible cartridges from third-party makers are usually cheaper per page, but quality can vary and some printers display a warning when they detect a non-original chip. Our range includes both types.
Capacity and page yield. Standard and high-capacity versions of the same cartridge often exist under different numbers or suffixes. If you print regularly, the larger version usually costs less per page and means fewer replacements. For occasional printing, a smaller cartridge can dry out before it is used up.
Colour set or single colours. Printers with separate cyan, magenta, yellow and black cartridges let you replace only the colour that has run out. Printers with a combined colour cartridge need the whole unit changed. A multipack is convenient if you print in colour often.

Are compatible ink cartridges as good as original ones?

What is the difference between an ink cartridge and an ink bottle?
A cartridge is a sealed unit that is fitted into the printer and replaced when empty. An ink bottle holds loose ink that you pour into a refillable tank built into the printer. The two systems are not interchangeable, so the printer type decides which one you need.
Do I need to replace all cartridges when one runs out?
It depends on the printer. If it uses separate cartridges for each colour, you only replace the empty one. If it uses a single tri-colour cartridge, the whole cartridge is replaced even if only one colour has run out. Check your printer before buying.
