How to choose toner cartridges
Printer compatibility. Match the cartridge to the exact printer model, not just the brand. Look up the model number on the front or back of the printer, then compare it with the cartridge code (for example a Brother TN series code or a Lexmark part number) in the product title.
Original or compatible. Original toner comes from the printer maker and is the safest route if you want predictable output and no questions about warranty terms. Compatible and replacement cartridges are made by other companies to fit the same printers, and many buyers choose them to lower the running cost of high-volume printing. Our range includes both.
Page yield. Most toner is sold in standard and high-yield versions, with the yield stated as the number of pages at about five per cent coverage. A high-yield cartridge usually costs less per page, which matters if you print often. A standard one is enough for occasional printing, because toner that sits unused for a long time gains nothing.
Colour or black. Black-only printers need a single cartridge. Colour laser printers normally use four: black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Check whether you are buying one colour or a full set, and replace each colour as it runs out rather than all at once.
Drum units and other parts. Some printers keep the drum separate from the toner, so a new toner cartridge does not replace the drum. Check the product description to see whether you are buying toner only or a combined unit.
