Consumables

Consumables

This category covers printer consumables: toner cartridges, ink cartridges and bottles, drums and imaging units, maintenance kits, fusers and belts, label and tape cartridges, and 3D printing filament. It suits home users, offices and print rooms replacing empty or worn parts. The range of over 2,500 products includes ActiveJet, Xerox, Brother, Lexmark and Epson.

How to choose printer consumables

Printer compatibility. Check the exact model number of your printer, not just the brand, because cartridges are often specific to a series. Our range lists compatibility with Brother, HP, Epson, Xerox, Canon and Ricoh printers, so start by filtering for your manufacturer.

Original or compatible. Original cartridges are made by the printer manufacturer, while compatible ones come from third parties and are designed to fit the same printers. Both are available here. Original parts suit warranty-sensitive or colour-critical work, and compatible ones are often chosen for high-volume everyday printing.

Cartridge capacity. Yield is the number of pages a cartridge is rated to print, and it usually matters more for running costs than the cartridge itself. You will find standard yield, high (XL) yield and extra (super) high yield options. If you print often, a higher yield means fewer replacements.

Colours and pack size. Colour printers normally need separate black, cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, or a single multipack with all four. Most listings are for a single piece, though some come as packs of two, three, four or five. Check which colours your printer actually uses before ordering.

The right part type. Toner is for laser printers and ink is for inkjet printers. Drums and imaging units, fusers, belts and maintenance kits are wear parts that are replaced far less often than toner, but they are needed to keep print quality consistent. Some printers combine the drum and toner in one cartridge, and others keep them separate.

Brands we carry

  • Xerox: known for office laser printers and multifunction devices, with toner and drum units for those machines.
  • Brother: makes monochrome and colour laser printers as well as refillable ink tank models, and many of its laser models use a separate toner cartridge and drum unit.
  • Lexmark: focuses on business laser printers, with toner and imaging parts designed for heavy office use.
  • Epson: known for inkjet printers, including EcoTank models that are refilled from ink bottles rather than cartridges.
  • Canon: produces both inkjet and laser printers, and its range here covers consumables for each type.
  • HP (including HP Inc. and Hewlett-Packard): a long-standing maker of LaserJet and inkjet printers, whose original toner and ink cartridges are widely used in offices.
  • Flashforge: a 3D printer manufacturer, represented here by 3D printing filament.

Also in our range: ActiveJet, Actis and SuperBulk.

Toner cartridges and ink cartridges and bottles make up most of the category. Smaller sections hold drums and imaging units, maintenance kits, fusers and belts, label and tape cartridges, and filament.

Frequently asked questions about printer consumables

How do I find the right cartridge for my printer?

Use your printer's full model number, which is printed on the device or in its manual. Compare it with the compatibility details on the product page, as cartridges can differ between models from the same brand. If the model number is not listed, the cartridge will not be guaranteed to fit.

What is the difference between toner and ink?

Toner is a fine powder fused onto paper by a laser printer, while ink is a liquid sprayed by an inkjet printer. They are not interchangeable. Toner is typically used for high-volume document printing, and ink is common for photos and occasional use.

What does high yield or XL mean on a cartridge?

High yield or XL means the cartridge holds more ink or toner and is rated for more pages than the standard version. Extra high yield goes further still. The rating is based on a standard test, so real page counts depend on what you print.

Are compatible cartridges safe to use?

Compatible cartridges are made to work in the same printers as the originals, and many people use them for everyday printing. Quality can vary between makers, and some printers or warranties may favour original parts. If print quality or warranty cover is a concern, original cartridges are the safer choice.
