How to choose a projector screen
Screen type. Fixed-frame screens stay taut and flat, so they suit a dedicated cinema room or a permanent meeting room. Motorised and manual pull-down screens roll away when not needed, while tripod and portable models are better for trainers, events and rooms where the screen has to move.
Size and aspect ratio. Match the screen shape to your projector's native format: 16:9 for films and most modern content, 16:10 for many business projectors and laptops, 4:3 for older presentation setups. Measure the wall and the seating distance first, because a screen that is too large for the room makes pixels and text harder to read.
Surface and gain. A matt white surface gives even colour and wide viewing angles in a darkened room. In a room with daylight or lamps, a grey or ambient light rejecting surface keeps blacks deeper, but it can narrow the best viewing angle, so check it against where people will sit.
Projector compatibility. Short throw and ultra short throw projectors usually need a screen designed for that angle of light, as a standard white surface can wash out. Standard throw projectors work with most ordinary screens.

What is the difference between a fixed-frame and a motorised screen?
