How to choose a computer desk
Size and depth. Measure the space first, then add the footprint of your monitor, keyboard and any speakers. A depth of around 60 cm suits one monitor, while a deeper desk keeps a large or dual-monitor setup at a comfortable viewing distance.
Shape and layout. A straight desk fits against a wall or under a window. A corner or L-shaped desk gives more surface in a room corner, but it needs more floor space and makes moving furniture later harder.
Stability and load. Check the stated weight limit if you use a heavy desktop tower, several monitors or a PC with a large cooler. A solid frame with levelling feet stops the desk wobbling when you type, which matters on uneven floors.
Cable management and storage. Cable holes, trays or clips keep power leads and USB cables off the floor and out of sight. Shelves, drawers or a monitor stand built into the desk free up the surface, though they take up some leg room.
Height and comfort. Most fixed desks sit at about 72 to 75 cm, which suits many adults sitting on an adjustable chair. If you are noticeably taller or shorter, look for height-adjustable legs or plan to adjust your seat and footrest accordingly.

Computer desk FAQ
What size computer desk do I need?
For a single monitor, a desk about 100 to 120 cm wide and 50 to 60 cm deep is usually enough. For two monitors, a laptop plus a monitor, or a gaming setup with speakers, a width of 140 cm or more is more comfortable. Always check the space in the room before ordering.
Is a gaming desk better than a normal computer desk?
Not necessarily, it depends on how you use it. Gaming desks often offer a wider surface, cable routing and extras such as cup or headset holders. A standard computer desk can work just as well for office tasks, usually with a more neutral look.
Can a computer desk hold several monitors and a PC tower?
Yes, if its stated load capacity covers the combined weight. Check the rated weight limit and the frame construction. Heavy monitor arms clamped to the edge also need a worktop thick enough to take the clamp.
Do computer desks need assembly?
Most computer desks arrive flat-packed and need assembling at home. Expect to attach legs, panels and shelves with the supplied screws, and set aside some time. A second person helps with larger corner or L-shaped desks.
