Office and call center headsets

Office and call center headsets

Office and call center headsets are built for long hours of calls, with models for PCs, desk phones and softphones. Our range covers over 1000 models, mostly headband headsets with a boom microphone, from brands such as Jabra, Poly, Yealink and EPOS. They suit open-plan offices, contact centres and home working.

How to choose an office headset

Wired or wireless. Wired headsets need no charging and are the simplest option for a fixed desk. Wireless models let you move around while on a call, and our range also includes headsets that offer both wired and wireless use, plus a few true wireless designs.

One ear or two. Monaural headsets cover one ear, so you stay aware of colleagues and your surroundings. Binaural headsets cover both ears and block more background noise, which helps in a busy contact centre. Both types are well represented in our range, with binaural slightly more common.

Microphone type. A boom microphone sits close to your mouth and picks up speech more clearly than a built-in one, so most dedicated office headsets use it. Built-in microphones appear mainly on lighter headsets meant for calls and music. If you work in a noisy room, look for noise-cancelling on the microphone itself.

Comfort and wearing style. Headband designs are by far the most common and spread the weight well over a full working day. Supra-aural cushions rest on the ear and keep the headset light, while circumaural ones enclose the ear and isolate better. Ear-hook, in-ear and neck-band styles are also available if you dislike a headband.

Connection and compatibility. Check the plug: USB-A or USB-C for computers, 3.5 mm for some laptops and phones, or a quick disconnect cable for desk phones. If you use Microsoft Teams or Zoom, check that the headset is certified for your platform so that the call controls work.

Office headset brands we carry

  • Poly (including HP): formed from Plantronics and Polycom and now part of HP, known for the Blackwire wired and Voyager wireless headsets.
  • Yealink: best known for IP desk phones and meeting-room systems, so its headsets are a natural match for those setups.
  • EPOS: Danish audio brand with a background in Sennheiser's business headsets, focused on clear speech and sound quality.
  • Logitech: known for computer peripherals, with business headsets such as the Zone series for use with PCs and softphones.

Office and call center headset FAQ

What is the difference between a mono and a stereo office headset?

A mono (monaural) headset has one earpiece, while a stereo (binaural) headset has two. Mono lets you hear people around you, which suits shared offices where you move between calls and conversations. Stereo blocks more noise and is more comfortable for people on calls all day.

Should I choose a wired or wireless headset for the office?

Choose wired if you stay at one desk and want a headset that never needs charging. Choose wireless if you often leave your desk during calls, for example to check a document or visit a colleague. Wireless models need regular charging and usually work within a limited range of the base or computer.

Do I need a boom microphone for calls?

A boom microphone is the better choice for frequent calls because it sits close to your mouth and gives clearer speech. Built-in microphones are fine for occasional calls and music, but pick up more room noise. Most headsets made for office and call centre work use a boom.

Will an office headset work with my desk phone and computer?

It will work if the connector matches your device. USB headsets connect to computers directly, while desk phones often need a headset port, a quick disconnect cable or an adapter. Check the product specifications for the connection type and for Microsoft Teams or Zoom certification before buying.
