Keyboards

Our keyboards category covers wireless, wired, mechanical, gaming and ergonomic keyboards, plus tablet keyboards, keyboard and mouse sets and numeric keypads. It suits office users, gamers, heavy typists and anyone replacing a worn laptop or desktop keyboard. Leading brands in our range include Logitech, Cherry, Lenovo, Dell and HP.

How to choose a keyboard

Layout and language. Check the printed layout before anything else, because it cannot be changed without swapping keycaps. Our range includes German, US English, US International, French and UK English layouts, and the UK layout has a different Enter key and a pound sign that US boards lack.

Connection. Wireless keyboards cut cable clutter and work well with laptops and living-room setups, using either Bluetooth or a USB receiver. Wired keyboards need no batteries or pairing, which suits shared office desks and competitive gaming where you want the most direct connection.

Key mechanism. Membrane keyboards are quieter and are common in office models. Mechanical keyboards use an individual switch under each key, which gives a more distinct feel and allows worn parts to be replaced. Linear, tactile and clicky switches differ in feedback and noise, so consider who sits nearby.

Size and purpose. A full-size board includes a numeric keypad, useful for accounting and data entry. If you only need the keypad, a separate numeric keypad is also available. People who type all day may prefer an ergonomic split or curved design, while tablet users need a case or stand-style keyboard that matches their device.

Keyboard brands we carry

  • Logitech: known for wireless keyboards that connect to several devices and switch between them, as well as a long-running gaming line.
  • Cherry: a German manufacturer that created the Cherry MX mechanical switch, widely used across the keyboard industry.
  • Lenovo, Dell and HP: business-oriented brands whose keyboards are designed to pair with their own desktops and laptops, often in simple wired or wireless office versions.
  • Keychron: specialises in compact and full-size wireless mechanical keyboards that work with both Mac and Windows.
  • Razer: a gaming brand that develops its own mechanical switches for fast, responsive keys.
  • Logickeyboard: makes keyboards with shortcut labels printed for video and creative software, to speed up editing work.

Also in our range: Acer, ASUS and Keysonic.

Subcategories help narrow the search. Wireless and gaming keyboards are the largest groups, followed by wired and mechanical models. Smaller sections cover tablet keyboards, ergonomic designs, numeric keypads, smart card keyboards, industrial keyboards and software shortcut keyboards.

Keyboard FAQ

Is a mechanical keyboard better than a membrane keyboard?

Neither is better for everyone. Mechanical keyboards generally give a more defined key feel and last longer, but they are usually louder and heavier. Membrane keyboards are quieter and simpler, which suits shared offices.

Are wireless keyboards good for gaming?

Many modern wireless keyboards respond quickly enough for most games, particularly those using a dedicated USB receiver rather than Bluetooth. Competitive players often still choose wired models to avoid battery and signal concerns. Check that the keyboard offers a low-latency wireless mode if you go wireless.

What is the difference between UK and US keyboard layouts?

The UK layout has a larger, two-row Enter key, a pound sign on the 3 key and an extra key beside the left Shift. The US layout has a wider, single-row Enter key and a dollar sign on the 3 key. Choose the one that matches the layout your operating system is set to, or the one you are used to typing on.

Will a tablet keyboard work with any tablet?

Not always. Bluetooth tablet keyboards usually pair with a range of tablets, but case-style keyboards often connect through a specific port and fit only certain models. Check the compatible tablet model before buying.
