Mini and Micro HDMI cables connect cameras, tablets, compact computers and other small devices to a monitor, TV or projector. Our range has cables with a standard HDMI plug on one end and a Mini (Type C) or Micro (Type D) plug on the other, from brands such as Micro Connect, Gembird, StarTech and Qoltec.
How to choose a Mini or Micro HDMI cable
Connector type. Mini HDMI (Type C) is the larger plug, found on some cameras, camcorders and older tablets. Micro HDMI (Type D) is smaller and common on action cameras, many mirrorless cameras and some single-board computers. The two do not fit each other's ports, so check the socket on your device first. Both types are available in our range, with a standard HDMI Type A plug at the other end.
HDMI version and bandwidth. Cables in our range are listed at 18 Gbit/s (HDMI 2.0), 10.2 Gbit/s (HDMI 1.4b) and 8.16 Gbit/s (HDMI 1.3). For 4K at 60 Hz you need an 18 Gbit/s cable. A 10.2 Gbit/s cable handles Full HD and 4K at 30 Hz, and an older HDMI 1.3 cable is enough for a Full HD screen.
Length. Lengths in our range run from 0.5 m to 5 m. Cables of 1 m or 2 m suit a camera or tablet next to a monitor, while 3 m and 5 m reach a TV or projector across a room. Choose the shortest length that works comfortably, because a long, heavy cable hanging from a small port puts strain on it.
Plug size and cable stiffness. Mini and Micro sockets are small and sit on thin device bodies, so a thick, stiff cable can tug the plug sideways. Check how much space there is around the port, especially on cases, cages and tablet covers, and keep the cable supported where possible.

Mini and Micro HDMI cables: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Mini HDMI and Micro HDMI?
Mini HDMI is Type C and Micro HDMI is Type D. Micro is the smaller of the two, and the plugs do not fit each other's sockets. Both carry the same HDMI signal when the cable supports the same version.
Can a Micro HDMI cable carry 4K?
Yes, provided the cable is rated for it. For 4K at 60 Hz look for an HDMI 2.0 cable with 18 Gbit/s bandwidth. Cables rated at 10.2 Gbit/s handle 4K at 30 Hz only, and the device and screen must support 4K as well.
Does a Mini or Micro HDMI cable carry sound?
Yes, HDMI carries audio and video in the same cable. The screen or TV plays the sound, or passes it on to a connected speaker or soundbar. No separate audio lead is needed.
What length of Mini or Micro HDMI cable should I buy?
For a camera, tablet or mini computer next to a monitor, 1 m to 2 m is usually enough. Choose 3 m or 5 m only if the screen is further away, such as a TV across a room. Our range starts at 0.5 m for tight setups and reaches 5 m.
