QHD (1440p) gaming monitors

QHD (1440p) gaming monitors

QHD (1440p) gaming monitors have a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and suit players who want a sharper picture than Full HD without the graphics card demands of 4K. Our range covers over 100 models, mostly 27-inch IPS screens from Acer, ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte, plus some larger 31.5-inch panels.

How to choose a QHD gaming monitor

Screen size. The 27-inch size is the standard for 1440p and makes up most of our range. A 31.5-inch model gives you a larger image, but the same pixels are spread wider, so text looks softer up close and the screen works best at a deeper desk. A few smaller sizes, around 24 to 26 inches, are also available.

Refresh rate and graphics card. A higher refresh rate makes motion smoother, and many 1440p gaming monitors go well beyond the 60 Hz of ordinary office screens. The benefit only appears if your graphics card can deliver matching frame rates at 2560 x 1440, so check the refresh rate against what your games actually run at. Response time is listed on each product page and matters most in fast shooters and racing games.

Panel type. IPS panels, including variants sold as Fast IPS, Rapid IPS and SS-IPS, offer wide viewing angles and good colour, and they are the most common type in our range. VA panels, including Rapid VA, usually give deeper blacks and higher contrast, which suits dark games and films in a dim room, though some show more smearing in fast motion than IPS.

Colour depth and connections. Some models list 16.7 million colours, while others list around 1.07 billion colours, which means 10-bit processing. The higher figure helps with photo editing and HDR content, but the difference is subtle in most games. Most monitors here have one DisplayPort input, so confirm that your graphics card can drive the full refresh rate over DisplayPort or HDMI before you buy.

QHD gaming monitor FAQ

Is 1440p worth it over 1080p for gaming?

Yes, if your graphics card can handle it. 1440p shows noticeably more detail than Full HD, especially on screens of 27 inches or larger, where 1080p can look soft. It asks less of your hardware than 4K, so it is a common middle step.

What size is best for a 1440p gaming monitor?

A 27-inch screen is the most common choice for 1440p. At that size the resolution looks sharp at a normal desk distance. A 31.5-inch monitor suits a deeper desk or players who want a bigger picture and accept slightly less pixel density.

Do I need a strong graphics card for a QHD monitor?

You need a graphics card that can hold the frame rate you want at 2560 x 1440, which takes more effort than at 1080p. Recent mid-range and higher cards generally manage 1440p well, but demanding games may need lower settings. Check benchmarks for your favourite titles before you decide.

Should I choose IPS or VA for gaming?

Choose IPS if you value accurate colour, wide viewing angles and quick pixel response. Choose VA if you prefer deeper blacks and stronger contrast. Both types are available in 1440p, and IPS is the more common in our range.
