QHD monitors

QHD monitors

QHD monitors have a 2560 x 1440 pixel screen, which gives more working space and finer detail than Full HD. They suit home offices, everyday desk work, photo editing and gaming. Our range of over 90 models includes HP, Dell, ASUS, ViewSonic and Lenovo, mostly in 27 inch and 23.8 inch sizes.

How to choose a QHD monitor

Screen size. At 2560 x 1440, a 27 inch screen is the usual match, and it is the most common size in our range. A 23.8 inch model packs the same pixels into a smaller area, so text is sharper but smaller. Models of 31.5 and 32 inches suit people who sit further back or like to have several windows open side by side.

Panel type. IPS is the most common panel in our range and offers wide viewing angles and stable colour, which matters for office work and photo editing. Some models use IPS Black, which is designed to give deeper blacks than standard IPS, and a smaller number use VA panels, which generally have higher contrast. If you share your screen with others or work with colour, IPS is the safer starting point.

Refresh rate. A 75 Hz or 100 Hz monitor is enough for documents, browsing and video. Fast games feel noticeably smoother at 120 Hz and above, and our range goes up to 200 Hz. A high refresh rate only pays off if your graphics card can deliver that many frames at QHD resolution.

Colour support. Many models in our range list 16.7 million colours, which is fine for general use. Some list around 1.07 billion colours, which points to a 10-bit panel and is more useful for photo and video editing, where smooth gradients matter.

Connections and stand. Check that the monitor has the ports your computer uses, such as DisplayPort or HDMI, and that your cable and graphics output support QHD at the refresh rate you want. If you spend long hours at a desk, a stand with height adjustment and swivel is worth more than an extra feature you will rarely use.

QHD monitors: frequently asked questions

Is QHD noticeably better than Full HD?

Yes, on a 27 inch screen the difference is easy to see. QHD has about 78 per cent more pixels than Full HD, so text and images look sharper and you can fit more on screen. On a 23.8 inch monitor the gain is smaller but still visible in text clarity.

What size is best for a QHD monitor?

A 27 inch screen is the most popular choice for QHD because it keeps text readable without scaling. A 23.8 inch model suits a small desk, while 31.5 or 32 inches give extra room for multitasking. Pick the size by how far you sit from the screen.

Is a 75 Hz QHD monitor enough for office work?

Yes, 75 Hz is plenty for documents, spreadsheets, browsing and video. A higher refresh rate such as 120 Hz or 180 Hz mainly benefits fast games and makes mouse movement feel smoother. If you do not game, you do not need to pay for more.

Will my computer run a QHD monitor?

Most modern computers can, but you need a video output that supports 2560 x 1440 at your chosen refresh rate. Check that your laptop or graphics card has a suitable HDMI or DisplayPort connection. Everyday office tasks are undemanding, while gaming at QHD needs a stronger graphics card than Full HD.
