Monitor and TV mounts

Monitor and TV mounts

Monitor and TV mounts cover wall mounts, desk monitor arms, floor stands and carts, ceiling mounts and projector mounts for homes, offices and meeting rooms. Our range of over 2,600 models includes Neomounts, Ergotron, Equip and Vogel's. It suits anyone who wants to free up desk space, raise a screen to eye level or hang a TV safely.

How to choose a monitor or TV mount

Screen size and weight. Check the maximum screen size and the weight limit on the mount, and compare them with your display. Desk arms with a gas spring only hold the screen steadily when its weight falls inside the stated range, while TV wall mounts are built for much heavier panels.

VESA pattern. Measure the distance between the four mounting holes on the back of the screen, in millimetres. Many monitors use 75 x 75 or 100 x 100, and larger TVs often use wider patterns such as 200 x 200 or 400 x 400. The mount must list your pattern, or come with adapter plates.

Type of movement. A fixed wall mount keeps the screen closest to the wall, a tilt mount helps reduce glare on a screen hung high, and a full-motion arm swings out and turns for corners or shared viewing. On a desk, a single arm suits one monitor, and a dual or multi-screen arm saves clamping several stands.

Where it will be fitted. Brick and concrete walls take heavy TVs easily, but plasterboard needs fixing into studs or a suitable backing board. For desk arms, check the desk thickness against the clamp range and whether a grommet fitting through a cable hole is an option. Ceiling and projector mounts also need a solid fixing point and the right pole length.

Cable management. Arms with channels along the pole keep cables tidy and stop them pulling when the screen moves. This matters most on full-motion arms, where cables flex every time you adjust the screen.

Monitor and TV mount brands we carry

  • Neomounts: a Dutch brand, formerly Newstar, known for monitor arms, desk mounts and TV wall mounts, and the largest brand in this category in our range.
  • Ergotron: an American ergonomics specialist, known for adjustable monitor arms and sit-stand workstations.
  • Vogel's: a Dutch maker best known for TV wall mounts and stands for living rooms.
  • Chief: an American brand focused on professional audio-visual mounts for meeting rooms and commercial displays.
  • Speaka Professional: the own brand of the electronics retailer Conrad, covering mounts and accessories for monitors and TVs.
  • Hama, Digitus and Gembird: established makers of computer and media accessories, offering mounts alongside cables and peripherals.

Also in our range: Equip, ONKRON, Techly and InLine.

Wall mounts and desk monitor mounts and arms are the largest subcategories. Floor stands and carts suit classrooms and presentation rooms, while ceiling mounts and projector mounts are there for overhead installations. Smaller subcategories include mounting accessories, PC mounts and laptop and tablet stands.

Monitor and TV mounts: frequently asked questions

How do I know if a mount fits my monitor or TV?

Match the VESA hole pattern on the back of your screen with the patterns listed for the mount. Then confirm that your screen's size and weight fall within the mount's limits. If the back of the screen is curved or recessed, you may also need spacers.

What is the difference between a fixed, tilt and full-motion mount?

A fixed mount holds the screen flat against the wall with no adjustment. A tilt mount lets you angle the screen up or down to reduce reflections. A full-motion mount extends away from the wall and swivels sideways, so you can turn the screen towards different seating positions.

Can I mount a TV on a plasterboard wall?

Yes, but the mount must be fixed into wooden or metal studs, or onto a mounting board secured to them, because plasterboard alone cannot carry the load. Check the wall before you buy and use fixings suited to its construction. If you are unsure, ask a qualified installer.

Is a monitor arm better than the stand supplied with the monitor?

A monitor arm usually offers more adjustment in height, depth and rotation than a standard stand. It also frees up desk space, since the screen is held by a clamp or grommet fitting. The arm must support your monitor's weight and VESA pattern, and your desk must be sturdy enough for the clamp.
