Monitor stands and carts hold a screen on a desk or move it around a room, from simple desk stands to wheeled trolleys. This range suits home offices, workplaces, classrooms and meeting rooms, with models from Gembird, Maclean, Digitus and other makers.
How to choose a monitor stand or cart
Screen size and weight. Check the maximum screen diagonal and load capacity given for the stand, then compare them with your monitor's weight. Leave a safety margin, because a stand working close to its limit tends to sag or wobble.
VESA mounting. Most stands that attach to the back of a screen use a VESA hole pattern, and 75x75 mm and 100x100 mm are the most widespread. Look at the back of your monitor or its manual to confirm the pattern before ordering. Screens without VESA holes need a stand that supports the monitor on its own base, or an adapter.
Desk stand or cart. A desk stand frees up surface space and lifts the screen to eye level. A cart on castors suits reception areas, training rooms and presentations where the display has to move between locations. Choose castors with brakes so the cart stays put once it is in position.
Adjustability. Height, tilt and swivel adjustment let you set the top edge of the screen roughly at eye level, which reduces neck strain. Gas spring arms make changes quick, while fixed-height stands are simpler and often steadier.
Cables and extra screens. Cable clips or channels keep power and video leads tidy and out of the way. If you run two monitors, check whether the stand is designed for dual displays, since the weight limit is usually quoted either per arm or as a total.

Monitor stands and carts: frequently asked questions
How do I know if a monitor stand will fit my screen?
Compare three things: the screen size range of the stand, its maximum load and the VESA pattern. Your monitor's weight and hole spacing are normally listed in its manual or on the manufacturer's specification sheet. If all three match, the stand will fit.
What does VESA mean on a monitor stand?
VESA is the standard for the spacing of the four mounting holes on the back of a monitor. A stand marked 100x100 needs holes 100 mm apart both horizontally and vertically. Matching this pattern is what allows the screen to be bolted securely to the stand.
Is a monitor cart better than a desk stand?
A cart is better when the screen needs to be moved between rooms or shared between users, for example for presentations or training. A desk stand is the better choice for a permanent workstation, as it takes up less floor space and is usually more stable. The right option depends on whether the display stays in one place.
How high should a monitor stand be set?
Set the stand so the top edge of the screen sits at or just below eye level when you are seated upright. The screen should be about an arm's length away. A slight backward tilt can also reduce glare and help keep your neck relaxed.
