Professional & colour-accurate monitors

Professional & colour-accurate monitors

Professional and colour-accurate monitors are displays for photographers, video editors, designers and print specialists who need colours on screen to match the finished work. Our range covers sizes from 23.8 to 32 inches and resolutions from Full HD up to 6K, from brands including Apple, EIZO, Samsung, BenQ and ASUS.

How to choose a colour-accurate monitor

Panel type and colour coverage. IPS panels dominate our range and are the usual choice for colour work because colours and brightness stay consistent from wider viewing angles. Check which colour space you work in: sRGB for web content, Adobe RGB for print, DCI-P3 for video and digital cinema. A monitor that covers your target space almost completely matters more than a high headline figure.

Resolution and screen size. 4K (3840 x 2160) and Quad HD (2560 x 1440) are the most common resolutions here, and the 27-inch size is the most frequent. For detailed retouching, 5K (5120 x 2880) gives noticeably finer detail at 27 inches, and the 6K models are aimed at high-end video and colour grading. Full HD and WUXGA suit smaller 24-inch screens where space on the desk is limited.

Calibration. Factory calibration gives a good starting point, but colours drift over time. Some professional models support hardware calibration, which adjusts the monitor itself rather than the graphics card profile and keeps greys and gradients cleaner. If your work goes to print or to clients, check for this feature and for a calibration report.

Aspect ratio and refresh rate. Most models use 16:9, but a number of 16:10 and WUXGA screens give extra vertical space for editing timelines and toolbars. Almost all monitors in this category run at 60 Hz, which is enough for photo, design and video work. A few offer 75 to 120 Hz, which helps if you also want smoother motion in everyday use.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a monitor colour accurate?

A colour-accurate monitor shows colours very close to their true values, with only a small difference (Delta E) from the reference. This comes from a good panel, wide coverage of colour spaces such as sRGB or Adobe RGB, even brightness across the screen and proper calibration. Marketing claims alone do not guarantee it, so check for a calibration report.

Is a 4K monitor enough for photo and video editing?

Yes, 4K is enough for most photo and video editing. It matches the resolution of 4K footage and gives sharp detail at 27 and 32 inches. 5K or 6K is worth considering if you retouch at pixel level or want more room for editing panels beside a full-resolution preview.

Do I need to calibrate a professional monitor?

Yes, regular calibration is advisable if colour matching matters to your work. Even good monitors change slightly with age and use, so a calibration every month or so keeps results consistent. Hardware calibration is the most precise method, while software calibration with a colorimeter is a reasonable alternative.

Is an IPS panel the best choice for colour work?

IPS is usually the best choice, because it keeps colour and contrast stable across wide viewing angles. VA panels offer deeper blacks, but colours can shift when viewed from the side. Most monitors in our range use IPS, including Nano IPS, which widens the colour gamut further.
