How to choose a mouse pad
Size. A small pad is enough for office work with a low mouse sensitivity. Gamers who make wide sweeping movements, and anyone who wants the keyboard on the same surface, should look at extended pads and desk mats, which cover most of the desk.
Surface type. Smooth, hard surfaces let the mouse glide quickly, while textured cloth gives more friction and control for precise aiming. Many gaming mouse pads are made for one of these two styles, so check the product description before ordering. In our range the surface is usually plain, though some pads have printed images or patterns.
Base and material. A rubber base keeps the pad from sliding on the desk, which matters more on large mats. Stitched edges help cloth pads last longer, and a wipe-clean surface is useful in a shared office.
Wrist support. If you type or use a mouse for hours, a gel pad or a pad with an attached wrist rest reduces pressure on the wrist. Most pads in our range have no wrist rest, so look in the ergonomic and gel category or buy a separate wrist rest if comfort is your priority.
Colour and lighting. Black is widely available and hides marks well. Blue, red, grey, silver and multicolour designs are also available, and RGB pads add lit edges that most gamers choose for appearance, not performance.

Mouse pad FAQ
What size mouse pad should I buy?
Choose a standard pad for light office use and a larger or extended pad for gaming or if you want the keyboard on it too. The pad should be wide enough for your full mouse swipe without the mouse leaving the surface. Measure your free desk space before ordering a desk mat.
What is the difference between a mouse pad and a desk mat?
A desk mat is a much larger mouse pad that covers the area under both keyboard and mouse. A standard mouse pad only gives the mouse its own surface. Desk mats protect the desk and keep the setup visually uniform, but they need more room.
Do I need a mouse pad with a wrist rest?
A wrist rest is useful if you spend long hours typing or using a mouse and feel strain in your wrist. It is not essential for short sessions. Pads with built-in rests or gel supports are found in the ergonomic and gel category, and separate wrist rests are also available.
Do RGB mouse pads need power?
Most RGB mouse pads need power for the lighting, normally through a USB connection to your computer. The mouse surface works as normal, and the lighting is mainly cosmetic. Check the product details to confirm the connection type before buying.
