Wireless mice

Wireless mice

Wireless mice for office desks, laptop bags and home setups, from simple three-button models to multi-device and travel mice. Our range includes Logitech, Lenovo, HP, Hama and Dell, most of them battery-powered and connecting through a USB receiver, Bluetooth or both.

How to choose a wireless mouse

Connection type. A mouse with an RF receiver plugs into a USB port and usually works straight away. Bluetooth models need no receiver, which keeps a USB port free on a slim laptop. Dual-mode mice in our range combine RF wireless and Bluetooth, so you can switch between a desktop and a laptop.

Power source. Most mice in our range run on replaceable batteries, mainly AA, with AAA the second most common. Some have a built-in rechargeable battery, which saves buying cells but means charging by cable. AA cells generally last longer than AAA, though the mouse itself affects battery life as well.

Shape and handedness. Ambidextrous mice are the largest group in our range and suit both hands. Right-hand shaped models have a contoured body that supports the palm during long sessions, and only a few left-hand models are listed. Left-handed users should check the shape description carefully.

Buttons and scrolling. Three buttons (left, right and a scroll wheel click) cover everyday office work. Models with five, six or eight buttons add back and forward keys or programmable shortcuts, which help in spreadsheets, browsers and design software. Nearly all mice here use a scroll wheel, though a few use a ball or a touch surface.

Intended use. Most mice in our range are made for office work. A smaller number are sold as travel or home mice, and only a few as gaming mice. If you play fast-paced games, look at the sensor specification and the connection type rather than the button count alone.

Wireless mouse FAQ

Is Bluetooth or a USB receiver better for a wireless mouse?

Neither is better in every case. A USB receiver is simple and works with any computer that has a free USB port, while Bluetooth frees up that port and suits slim laptops and tablets. If you move between devices, a model with both options is the most flexible.

Which wireless mouse is best for left-handed users?

An ambidextrous mouse is the safest choice, because its symmetrical shape works in either hand. Right-hand contoured mice are uncomfortable for left-handed users, and left-hand models are scarce. Check that any side buttons appear on both sides if you rely on them.

How many buttons does a wireless mouse need for office work?

Three buttons are enough for most office tasks. Five or six buttons add back and forward keys, which speed up browsing and document navigation. Eight or more buttons are only worth having if you will assign them to shortcuts.

Should I choose a mouse with AA batteries or a built-in battery?

AA batteries suit people who want to swap cells and carry on, and they often last a long time. A built-in battery avoids buying cells but needs charging, and the mouse may be unusable while it charges if it has no cable option. For a desk mouse used daily, replaceable batteries are usually the lower-maintenance option.
