Cable management

Cable management

Cable management for server racks and network cabinets: cable management panels, cable organisers, brush panels, cable trays and cable holders, for IT installers, small offices and server rooms. Our range of over 60 products includes LANVIEW, APC, Triton and Activejet, mostly in black and in low rack heights.

How to choose cable management for a rack

Product type. Cable management panels with rings or slots suit patch panels and switches, where each cable needs its own route. Brush panels close the opening while letting cables through, which helps with airflow and keeps the front tidy. Cable trays and cable holders do the same job along the rack or the cabinet frame rather than at a fixed position.

Rack height. Heights in our range are 0.5U, 1U and 2U. A 1U panel is the usual choice between a switch and a patch panel. A 2U organiser holds a thicker bundle, while 0.5U saves space in a crowded cabinet.

Cable volume and depth. Count the cables that will pass through one panel and allow spare capacity for later additions. Thick cables or bundles, for example shielded Cat6A, need larger rings or deeper organisers. Check the depth of the cabinet too, because a deep organiser can block the rear door.

Rack compatibility. Most rack accessories are made for 19-inch racks, so check the mounting width against your cabinet. Also check how the part is fixed: cage nuts and screws are standard, and some parts clip in without tools. Black is the most common finish in our range and matches most cabinets.

Brands we carry

  • APC: known for UPS units and NetShelter racks, so its accessories are designed to fit server room installations.
  • Dell: a server maker whose rack accessories are intended to match its own rack servers and enclosures.
  • Triton: a Polish manufacturer of rack cabinets and the accessories that go inside them.

Also in our range: LANVIEW, Activejet, ALLNET, ROLINE, NEO TOOLS, Alantec, Synergy 21, A-LAN and INLINE.

Frequently asked questions about rack cable management

What is the difference between a cable management panel and a brush panel?

A cable management panel guides cables through rings, slots or a covered channel, while a brush panel passes them through a strip of bristles. The brush version blocks most of the opening, which limits air moving between the front and rear of the rack. Cable panels give better support to heavy bundles.

What does 1U mean for a cable organiser?

1U means the panel is one rack unit high, which is 44.45 mm in a standard 19-inch rack. A 2U panel takes twice that space. Count the free units in your cabinet before you buy.

Do I need cable management in a small rack?

Yes, a small rack benefits from it as much as a large one. Tidy routing makes it easier to trace a faulty cable, stops cables from pulling on ports and keeps air moving around equipment. A single 1U panel or a cable organiser is often enough for a small wall cabinet.

Where should cable management panels go in a rack?

Most installers place a cable management panel directly above or below each patch panel or switch. This keeps patch cables short and stops them hanging across other equipment. Leave a free unit between heavy loads and the panel if the cables are thick.
