E-Scooters

E-Scooters

E-scooters for commuting and short urban trips, from brands such as Qoltec, Segway, Xiaomi and Roline. The range runs from lightweight folding models to heavier long-distance scooters, and also lists charging-related brands.

It suits students, office workers and anyone replacing short car or taxi journeys with something easy to store.

How to choose an e-scooter

Range and battery. Manufacturers quote range under ideal conditions, so real-world distance is usually noticeably lower, especially with a heavier rider, hills or cold weather. Work out your daily round trip and choose a scooter that covers it with spare capacity, so you are not charging the battery to empty every night.

Weight and portability. If you carry the scooter upstairs, onto a train or into a boot, weight matters more than top speed. Lighter folding models are easier to lift, while heavier scooters usually carry larger batteries and sturdier frames. Check the folded dimensions and the rider weight limit as well.

Tyres and ride comfort. Pneumatic (air-filled) tyres absorb bumps and cracked tarmac better than solid tyres, but they can puncture. Solid tyres need no maintenance yet give a harsher ride. Suspension and larger wheels help on rough surfaces, which is worth considering on uneven pavements.

Motor power and local rules. A stronger motor helps with hills and heavier riders, but it also adds weight and drains the battery faster. Rules on speed limits, where you may ride and whether helmets are required differ by location, so check local regulations before you buy.

Brakes and lights. Look for a reliable braking setup, such as a disc or drum brake combined with an electronic brake, plus front and rear lights. These matter for any riding near traffic or after dark.

E-scooter brands we carry

  • Segway: The Segway-Ninebot KickScooter series is among the best-known e-scooter families, and similar models are widely used in rental fleets.
  • Xiaomi: Known for its folding electric scooters aimed at everyday commuting, with app connectivity on many models.
  • Soflow: A German brand focused on commuter scooters designed to meet European road-use requirements.
  • Qoltec: A Polish brand of computer accessories and power products, which also offers electric scooters.
  • Roline: Best known for cables, adapters and network accessories, so check each listing to see whether it is a scooter or an accessory.
  • Mennekes and Wallbox: Both are known mainly for electric vehicle charging equipment, which is a different product type from scooters.
  • NOCO: Known for battery chargers and maintainers rather than scooters themselves.

Also in our range: Navee, Blaupunkt, Denver and AC.

E-scooter FAQ

How far can an electric scooter go on one charge?

Most commuter e-scooters travel somewhere between 20 and 50 km on a full charge in real conditions, though larger models can go further. Rider weight, speed, terrain and temperature all reduce the distance. Compare the manufacturer's stated range as a guide, not a guarantee.

Do I need a licence to ride an e-scooter?

The rules depend on where you ride and are not the same everywhere. Some places restrict e-scooters to private land or cycle lanes, set speed limits or require a helmet. Check your local traffic regulations and municipal by-laws before riding on public roads.

Are air tyres better than solid tyres on an e-scooter?

Air tyres give a smoother, more comfortable ride and better grip, which helps on rough or uneven roads. Solid tyres do not puncture and need little upkeep, but they transmit more vibration. If your route has poor surfaces, air tyres are usually the better choice.

How long does an e-scooter take to charge?

Most e-scooters need several hours to charge from empty, with larger batteries taking longer. The exact time depends on battery capacity and the charger supplied. Check the charging time in the product details if you plan to top up between shifts or lessons.
