Scale and system compatibility. Model railways, RC vehicles and plastic kits are sold in fixed scales, such as H0 for trains and 1:10 for many RC cars. Pieces only work together if the scale and track system match. Märklin's classic H0 system uses a three-rail track, while many other makers use two-rail track, so check before mixing brands.
Power and what is in the box. RC models usually need a battery, a charger and sometimes a separate transmitter. Check whether these are included, and whether the model uses a brushed or brushless motor, since brushless motors are generally faster and need less maintenance.
