Laptop power banks are high-capacity portable batteries that charge notebooks, tablets and phones away from a wall socket, suited to commuters, students and anyone who works on the move. How to choose a laptop power bank
Capacity in Wh. Look at watt-hours rather than mAh alone, because laptop batteries are rated in Wh. Models in our range run from 72 Wh to 88.8 Wh, and others are listed as 20000 mAh or 24000 mAh. A bank of around 74 Wh gives roughly one full charge to a thin laptop with a battery of 50 Wh or less, since some energy is lost in conversion.
Output power. Check the wattage printed on your laptop's original charger, and choose a power bank that can match it. If the output is lower, charging will be slow, or the laptop may only slow its battery drain without actually charging. Output currents in our range are listed at 3 A, 4.5 A and 5 A. At 20 V, a 5 A output corresponds to 100 W.
Connector and compatibility. Newer laptops charge over USB-C, so a USB-C output is enough for them. Older laptops with a round charging socket need a power bank that comes with interchangeable DC tips. Many models in our range are described as universal, so check that your laptop's connector is covered before ordering.
Number of ports. Some power banks in our range have one USB-C port, others have two. A second port lets you charge a laptop and a phone at the same time, but the available power is then shared between them.
Recharging the power bank. USB-C input is listed on many models, and some accept several voltages from 5 V up to 20 V. A bank that takes 20 V input can be refilled much faster with a suitable USB-C laptop charger than with a basic phone adapter.

Laptop power bank FAQ
How many times can a power bank charge a laptop?
Most power banks charge a laptop less than twice, and often only once. Divide the power bank's Wh figure by your laptop battery's Wh figure, then allow for some loss in conversion. A 74 Wh bank will not fully recharge a 70 Wh laptop battery from empty.
Will a laptop power bank work with any laptop?
No, it must match your laptop's connector and power needs. Laptops that charge over USB-C usually work with a USB-C power bank that delivers enough watts. Models with a round charging socket need a universal power bank with the right DC tip, so check the connector type and wattage first.
Can I take a laptop power bank on a plane?
Usually yes, in your hand luggage only. Most airlines allow power banks up to 100 Wh in the cabin and never in the hold. The capacities listed in our range stay below 100 Wh, but check your airline's own rules before travelling.
Can a laptop power bank also charge a phone?
Yes, as long as it has a suitable output port. Many laptop power banks have USB-C outputs that also charge phones and tablets. Models with two USB-C ports let you charge a laptop and a phone at the same time.
