Editing and software shortcut keyboards are full keyboards with application commands printed on the keys, mainly for video, audio and other creative software. They suit editors, colourists and designers who want to work faster without memorising every shortcut. Our range is small, and every model comes from LOGICKEYBOARD.
How to choose an editing or software shortcut keyboard
Software. The legends on the keys must match the program you use every day. A layout printed for Avid Media Composer will still type normally in DaVinci Resolve, but the printed shortcuts will not match the commands. Check the exact application, and the version if the product page gives one.
Operating system. Most shortcut keyboards are made in separate Mac and Windows versions. The modifier keys differ (Command and Option on a Mac, Control and Alt on Windows), so choose the version that matches your computer. That way the printed legends match what each key actually does.
Size and layout. A full-size layout with a numeric keypad is common on editing keyboards, because the extra keys carry shortcuts for tools and timelines. Measure your desk first, especially if you also use a mouse, graphics tablet or jog wheel beside the keyboard.
Legibility and lighting. Colour-coded legends let you find a command at a glance. Backlit keys help in a dim edit suite, where printed text is hard to read. Heavy daily use can wear printed legends, so look at how they are applied to the keycaps.
Connection and typing feel. A wired USB connection needs no batteries or pairing, which suits a fixed editing desk. If you also type a lot, consider key travel and noise, as you will spend long sessions on this keyboard.

Frequently asked questions about shortcut keyboards
What is an editing keyboard?
An editing keyboard is a standard keyboard with shortcuts for a specific program printed on the keys, usually video editing software. It works like any other keyboard for typing. The printed legends simply show which key combination triggers each command, so you spend less time searching menus.
Will a shortcut keyboard work with other software?
Yes, it will still work as a normal keyboard in any program. The shortcuts themselves are handled by the software, not the keyboard. However, the printed legends only match the application the keyboard was designed for, so they will not match the commands in other programs.
Do I need a Mac or a Windows version?
Choose the version that matches your computer. The two differ in modifier keys such as Command and Option on a Mac, and Control and Alt on Windows. A keyboard may connect to either system, but the printed labels are only correct on the one it was made for.
Is a shortcut keyboard worth buying?
It is worth buying if you spend hours each week in one application and want to learn its shortcuts faster. Seeing the commands on the keys cuts the time spent looking them up. If you use several programs only occasionally, a standard keyboard may serve you just as well.
