Item trackers

Item trackers

Item trackers are small Bluetooth tags and holders that help you find keys, wallets, bags and luggage through a phone app. Our range suits anyone who regularly mislays everyday items or wants to keep an eye on a suitcase. It includes trackers from CELLY, Belkin, Motorola and eStuff.

How to choose an item tracker

Phone compatibility. Check which network the tracker uses before anything else. Some trackers work with Apple's Find My network and need an iPhone, while others use Google's Find My Device network and suit Android phones. A tracker on the wrong platform will not give you the full location feature.

Battery type. Most trackers use a replaceable coin cell, which often lasts around a year, and you swap it when the app warns you. Others have a built-in rechargeable battery, which avoids buying cells but means remembering to charge it. For a tracker on keys or a bag you rarely open, a replaceable cell is usually less hassle.

How it attaches. A tag with a keyring hole suits keys and bag zips. A flat card-style tracker slides into a wallet or passport holder, and a case-style holder wraps around the tag so it can be clipped on. Think about where the tracker will sit and whether it will be knocked about.

Sound and range. The built-in speaker helps you find an item that is hidden in the house or the car. Bluetooth range is limited, so away from home the tracker relies on nearby phones in the network passing on its location. A louder speaker matters more if you lose things indoors than if you mainly want to track luggage.

Colour. Black is the discreet option for a tag that stays out of sight on a bag or wallet. Our range also includes a green model, which is easier to spot on a keyring or in a bag pocket.

Item tracker brands we carry

  • CELLY: an Italian maker of mobile phone accessories, best known for cases and protective covers, and it has the most trackers in our range.
  • Belkin: well known for chargers, cables and other everyday phone accessories, which makes its trackers a natural fit for people who already use its products.
  • Motorola: a long-established phone manufacturer, so its trackers sit naturally alongside Android smartphones.

Also in our range: eStuff.

Item tracker FAQ

Do item trackers need a phone to work?

Yes, an item tracker needs a phone with its app or network support to be useful. The tag connects to your phone over Bluetooth, and the phone shows its location and makes it ring. Without a compatible phone, the tag cannot be set up or found.

Is an item tracker the same as a GPS tracker?

No. Most item trackers use Bluetooth and rely on nearby phones in the network to report their position, while a GPS tracker has its own satellite receiver and usually a mobile data connection. Item trackers are small, light and simple. They work best for keys, wallets and bags, not for live tracking of a moving vehicle.

How long does the battery in an item tracker last?

It depends on the model, but trackers with a replaceable coin cell often run for around a year. Rechargeable versions need topping up from time to time instead. The app normally warns you when the battery is getting low.

Will an iPhone tracker work with an Android phone?

Usually not fully. Trackers built for Apple's Find My network are designed for iPhones, and those built for Google's Find My Device network are designed for Android phones. Check which platform the tracker supports on the product page before you buy.
