How to choose a monitor

Size and resolution. For everyday office work, 24 to 27 inches at Full HD or QHD is a comfortable fit for most desks. Choose 4K if you want sharper text on a 27 inch or larger screen, and consider a curved or ultrawide model if you keep several windows open side by side.

Panel type and refresh rate. IPS panels generally offer wider viewing angles and more consistent colour, while VA panels usually deliver deeper contrast. A 60 Hz or 75 Hz screen is fine for documents and video, whereas gaming monitors typically start at 144 Hz for smoother motion.

Colour accuracy. Photo editing, video work and print design call for the professional and colour-accurate displays in our range. Look for factory calibration and wide coverage of colour spaces such as sRGB, rather than relying on a general-purpose office screen.

Connections and cables. Check which ports your computer offers: HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C. 4K at 60 Hz needs HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 or newer, and a cable that supports that standard. If your computer and screen use different ports, an adapter or converter solves the mismatch.

Mounting. Most monitors have VESA mounting holes on the back, commonly 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm. A monitor arm frees desk space and lets you set the height properly, which matters if you work at the screen all day.

Monitor buying questions

What size monitor is best for office work?

A 24 to 27 inch monitor suits most office desks. It shows two documents side by side without forcing you to move your head. If you work with spreadsheets or several windows at once, a 27 inch QHD or an ultrawide screen gives more working space.

Is an IPS or VA monitor better?

Neither is better in every case. IPS panels are usually the better choice for colour work and wide viewing angles. VA panels tend to show deeper blacks and higher contrast, which suits films and dimly lit rooms.

Which cable do I need for a 4K monitor?

A DisplayPort cable or a high-speed HDMI cable is what you need for 4K. For 4K at 60 Hz, use HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 or newer. Check the ports on both your monitor and your computer before you buy.

How do I know if a monitor mount will fit?

Check the VESA pattern on the back of the monitor, usually 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm. Then compare the mount's weight and screen size limits with your monitor. Some monitors with unusual back designs need a VESA adapter plate.
