Printer spare parts

Printer spare parts

Printer spare parts are replacement components for laser and office printers, such as fuser units, maintenance kits and other service parts. They suit businesses, IT support teams and workshops that want to keep existing machines running. Our range of over 10 products is led by Lexmark, alongside HP, Canon, Brother and Xerox.

How to choose printer spare parts

Match the exact printer model. Check the full model name and, where possible, the part number printed on the old component or listed in the service manual. Parts for neighbouring models in the same series often look identical but are not always interchangeable.

Identify which part has worn out. Fusers, transfer belts and paper pickup rollers are typical wear items, and error messages or the page counter usually point to the culprit. A maintenance kit replaces several wear parts in one go, so it makes sense on a busy printer that has reached its service interval. A single part is enough when only one component has failed.

Check mono or colour and the voltage version. Colour laser printers have extra components, such as belts and more complex imaging units, so a part for the colour version of a model will not necessarily fit the mono one. Fusers can also be made in different voltage versions. South African mains supply is 220 to 240 V, so choose a part built for that.

Consider who will fit it. Some parts are designed to be swapped by the user in a few minutes, while others need a technician and the right tools. A fuser stays hot after use, so switch the printer off and let it cool before touching it. Many maintenance kits also require the page counter to be reset afterwards.

Printer spare parts FAQ

How do I know which spare part my printer needs?

Start with the printer's exact model name and the error message or fault it shows. Then compare the part number on the worn component, or in the service manual, with the part you plan to buy. If the printer shows a maintenance warning, a maintenance kit is often the intended fix.

What is a printer maintenance kit?

A maintenance kit is a set of wear parts that the manufacturer recommends replacing after a set number of pages. It commonly includes a fuser and rollers, though the contents vary by model. Fitting everything together helps avoid paper jams and print defects caused by ageing parts.

Can I replace a printer fuser myself?

On many laser printers you can, provided you switch the printer off and let the fuser cool completely first. Some models make this a simple, user-replaceable step, while others are better left to a technician. Check your model's service guide before starting.

Are spare parts for one brand compatible with another?

No, parts are made for specific printer models and are generally not interchangeable between brands. Even within one brand, a part for one series may not fit another. Always confirm the part number against your own printer before ordering.
