Heaters

Heaters

Electric heaters for living rooms, bedrooms, offices and workshops, from brands such as BEPER, BLAUPUNKT, ESPERANZA and NEO TOOLS. The range runs from small personal heaters to higher-output models for larger spaces.

Most electric heaters are fan, convector, oil-filled or infrared types, and each heats a room differently.

How to choose a heater

Heating type. Fan heaters warm a small space within minutes but can be noisy. Convector and oil-filled heaters take longer, yet they give steadier warmth for rooms you occupy for hours. Infrared heaters warm people and objects directly, which suits workshops and draughty spots.

Power and room size. A rough guide is 1 kW for every 10 m² in a reasonably insulated room. Most portable heaters run at about 2000 W, so check the wattage against the size of your room before buying. A heater that is too weak will run constantly and never reach the temperature you want.

Thermostat and timer. An adjustable thermostat keeps the room at a set temperature instead of running flat out. A timer is useful for bedrooms and home offices, because the heater switches off when you no longer need it.

Safety features. Look for tip-over protection and overheat cut-off, especially if there are children or pets at home. Never plug a heater into an extension lead that is not rated for its load.

Smart control and noise. Some models in our range can be managed from a phone app, which helps if you want the room warm before you arrive. For bedrooms and study areas, choose a quieter oil-filled or convector model rather than a fan heater.

Heater FAQ

What type of heater is best for a bedroom?

An oil-filled or convector heater is usually the best choice for a bedroom, because both run quietly and give even warmth. Add a thermostat and a timer so the heater does not run all night. Fan heaters heat faster but their noise can disturb sleep.

How many watts do I need to heat a room?

As a rough guide, you need about 1 kW for every 10 m² of a reasonably insulated room. A small study may be fine with 1000 to 1500 W, while a large lounge needs 2000 W or more. Poor insulation or high ceilings increase the requirement.

Are electric heaters expensive to run?

Electric heaters use a lot of power, because a 2000 W model draws 2 kWh for every hour it runs at full output. A thermostat reduces the cost by cycling the heater off once the room is warm. Heating only the room you are using also helps.

Is it safe to leave a heater on overnight?

It is safer to use a heater with a timer and thermostat than to leave it running unattended, and many people prefer to switch it off before sleeping. Choose a model with tip-over and overheat protection, and keep it clear of bedding and curtains. Plug it directly into a wall socket, not an extension lead.
